As we get deeper and deeper into transfer portal season the Gators are starting to get a clearer picture of what talent they could possibly land and that continued on Sunday as Yale transfer EJ Jarvis released the list of his final eight schools.

All the schools pursuing are power conference schools, so that means something. Sounds like he can help us.

He’s really good. Complete package. Excellent footwork, great handles, strong post moves, can finish at the rim and shoot the jumper. Plays hard defense. What I like about him is that he isn’t one of those skilled, but plays below-the-rim guys. He has very respectable vertical leap and can finish well above the rim.

Solid offensive rebounder, effective shooter with a great 2 pt clip and solid at catch and shoot 3s, has good enough size to defend the 3 and the 4, and is a mature kid who won't sulk if he isn't starting.

Nice! Glad Jarvis is a Gator. Hope this helps with the recruitment of others that Florida is pursuing to join the team for next season.

Hard to say. Ivy didn’t play in 2020-2021, so not sure how that factors into super senior eligibility.

Can anyone else confirm this? Jarvis played 3 years at Yale and the whole Ivy League shut down for a season. If the shutdown is treated the same as a redshirt year, then Jarvis has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

I'm trying to interpret this and it appears that Jarvis will only have one year remaining. The fifth year of playing time only appears to be in effect if the 20-21 season was one of those years.

    NCAA Extra Year of Eligibility
All student-athletes whose 2020-2021 season was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will now get 6 years to compete in 4 full seasons of their sport in college.

Sounds like you’re right. So, the shutdown year counts as a year of basketball towards the 5 years Jarvis can play.

I’m not. My interpretation worked for pretty much every d1 athlete outside of the ivy league, but still wasn’t correct. My apologies.

*My interpretation was correct for football players that chose to play the 2020 season. If they sat out, they didn’t get an extra year of eligibility, just the extra year to play it. If they played, even though they played a full season, they were still given an extra year of eligibility and an extra year to use it.
