It should be rather obvious that the statement from Meatball Ron DeSanctimonious that he would refuse to extradite Trump is nothing more than political theater. Once arrangements have been made Trump will voluntarily fly up to New York for his arraignment after which he will be released on his own recognizance. The fact that DeSantis even felt the need to address extradition once again demonstrates who is the dominant figure in the Republican Party (hint: it's not the current governor of Florida).

DeSantis does not feel it necessary to be guided by laws he doesn’t agree with.

The arraignment is going to make NYC an even bigger shit show than it already is. A menagerie of extremists from both sides trying to outdo each other. I wouldn’t go there even if it was October so I could be there when the Yankees were swept.

If any LEO organization is up to this task, it is the nypd. That said, it would not surprise me to see some maga mob acting out in various parts of the country as their orange god finally faces some music.

Edwards was charged with something similar. Was found not guilty on the major charge and a hung jury on the other 5.

How the Trump hush money case compares to the John Edwards indictment

Edwards was indicted on 6 counts. He was acquitted on the misdemeanor, the jury hung on the 5 felony counts and a mistrial was declared on them.

Four of the counts involved accepting campaign contributions in excess of the then $25,000 limit from persons "C," "C," "D," and "D." The donors had labeled the contributions as gifts to Edwards personally and paid gift tax on them. The wealthiest donor wrote some of the checks as though she was purchasing items from him.

Count 6, the misdemeanor count for which he was found not guilty charged him with not reporting the "gifts" as campaign contributions in excess of the $200 reporting requirement.

Count 1 charged a conspiracy among Edwards and persons A, C and D to conceal campaign contributions and not report them with some of the money being used to support person B, the mother of his child. He was sending her $9000/ month and continued to do so after he withdrew from the race.

The cases are similar in that both men had affairs, the charges are not similar.

BTW, your linked article contains a few factual errors and a superficial analysis of the charges.

I think it's more likely each return/report would be a separate charge. The reimbursement wasn't illegal, the false reporting of them as legal expense were.

I believe the prosecutorial strategy is give a potential jury so many counts they can decide on just a few without an overwhelming sense of declaring “guilty”. And even with a few guilty verdicts out of 30, penalties can still be given.

Hey rocket scientist. I made my post questioning the veracity of his claim to have read the indictment last night at 11:22 p.m in post #656. PA finally corrected himself in post #665 at 1:22 a.m. this morning.

Please explain how I could have known about a post that wasn't posted UNTIL TWO HOURS AFTER MINE.

I don't expect you to apologize for your obvious error, it's not in your character. Just know you will ALWAYS get called out on this type of bullshit.

They would have pronounced it like 'inflict' and strongly suspected you were saying something sexual and derogatory but would've been too uncertain to act.

I think Trump will be charged for conspiracy with Cohen and Pecker on these illegal payments.

The children he separated from their families and kept in cages would disagree - if we could ever track them all down.

Not sure whether it will happen or not but I would love to see the judge impose a gag order on Trump. Even if only temporary it would be the ultimate sanction insofar as the Donald is concerned. If nothing else a gag order could seriously impact Trump's ability to milk his sheep-like followers.

Although there are a number of differences between the two I previously mentioned that the case against Trump for paying hush money to Stormy Daniels is similar enough to the Edwards case that it's by no means a slam dunk. Although we won't actually find out until the indictment is unsealed I suspect that that the payment to Stormy is probably only one of several allegations against the Orange One.
