I moved back to Florida about 18 months ago, and I am pretty sure that my Mens' League games are about 10 minutes from where @tampajack1 said he lives (if I remember correctly). I think it would be hilarious for him to come watch me stink it up on the court and report back to the forum. I am a mid-40's washed up guy playing against much younger competition so I'm pretty sure it would be satisfying to see me get destroyed. Also, I play on free agent teams, so sometimes we get really poor talent/size, and rarely have chemistry until mid-season.
Oh dang, I guess I failed. I thought I remembered you saying you were out in Parkland. Maybe that was someone else. I used to have a house in Westchase and some condos downtown Ybor back in the 2010's though.
It wouldn't be totally the same but @tampajack1 is a video diagnostician too. He's referred us to plenty of videos he watched where he saw enough to give a firm opinion. Maybe you could arrange for him to see some video of you playing? It doesn't have to be posted here.
Just keep in mind that basketball isn't a contact sport and the court isn't made from the hardest substance know by mankind.
It's not a contact sport, but my body has taken a beating over the years. It's definitely physical. As far as the court, I get some type of burn from it every game. I need to learn to stop diving after the ball. smh.
Lol! I live in Parkland. I used to play in the Sugar Sand Park league… 2x champs! I don’t think ive stepped on a court since…. And that was 15 years+ years ago!
I used to play up at the Littlewood and then Westside courts in G'ville up until my mid-30's when two things convinced me it was time to give it up: Every other time out I would hurt some part of my body...the real fun one was when I got bumped coming down with a rebound, landed funny and hurt my back. I had to almost crawl to my car. When Middle schools kids started going around me like my feet were nailed to the concrete.
My buddy is the UF jazz director and a phenomenal trumpet player. About three years ago, he was playing a pickup game with students and tried to teach them a lesson in perseverance. He ended up busting his face and damaging his teeth so badly that he can no longer play trumpet. Thankfully, he's a great piano player too.
Both knees and both ankles for me . . . one knee so bad I had to stop (back in the late 70s right before arthroscopic surgeries got popular). Anyone who says BB isn't physical hasn't played competitively.
