Great trivia question. What HOF player hit a home run in his first MLB at bat and then never hit another one?
Nope, but he was the opposite of Nolan. Began as a starter and became a relief pitcher while Nolan started as a relief pitcher and became a starter. That is a HUGE hint. And this will give it away: As a starter he no hit the Yankees.
I looked it up….it was Hoyt Wilhelm. Interesting was it happened 23 times….that is crazy it happened that many times.
To me, the issue is MLB is all HRs and Ks these days, no small ball which I enjoy. I still check in for the post season but that's about it. I used to watch every Marlins game on tv (Braves before that) and we went to 20-30 games a year but ownership greed pretty much killed it for us. Wife is much happier also since she has more access to the remote control.
You can now win bar bets with this one. An even crazier trivia question is who played right field for the Yankees just before they got Babe Ruth? Hint: He is the in HOF multiple times in a different sport. The answer is George Halas. He was the last right fielder for the Yankees last game before they got The Babe.
Agree on not much small ball left. Os stole 5 bases today and bunted guy to 3rd w/ a 9-4 lead...so theres that..lol Wife and I have seperate tv watching rooms.. havent watched same tv at same time in 12 years,, highly reccomended.
I was born and raised in St. Pete in the '50's when the Yankees had a farm team there-St. Petersburg Saints. I was a big Yankees fan and Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford were my favorites.
Pete Alonso had a strike called on him while at first base.. well on the batter, but his fault... Madness Mets Batter Called For Strike After Pete Alonso Dilly Dallies Back To Base (outkick.com)
