Guess Jacob is no longer big news on too hot. Gotta wonder with all the hatred why the early release. QAnon Shaman Jacob Chansley released from prison 14 months early
Wow, a conservative white guy with rich parents didnt feel the full fury of the American carceral system? Big news!
So... I guess that video, that I saw over two years ago, and that Tucker Carlson released recently was authentic and NOT cherry picked like our resident Leftists would have us all believe.
It's either release him.... or put all those cops that escorted him through the Capital Building on trial for aiding and abetting.
I suspect that perceived hatred on a message board is not one of the determining factors for length of sentence.
His release date will still be over a year early, I would think there might be some explanation as to why it was necessary to keep him in solitary confinement for a year then release him a year early after the video of him being escorted into the capital was released.
A bit of a reach to go from this bozo getting out of the slammer early to Jan 6 was just a tourist visit, but you do you.
Let the Trumpsters have this one. The Q Anon shaman is obviously a hero to them and they want to celebrate his release like it’s Nelson Mandela… It’s a huge moment for them. He’s been idolized to the point that a lot of Trumpsters are predicting a VP nod or perhaps a SCOTUS seat for him if Trump gets to appoint another justice.
Chansley, who suffers from mental health problems, served 11 months in solitary confinement during his prison stint, according to Watkins. *** In May 2021, he was ordered by a judge to undergo a psychological evaluation, and has said he believes he’s “directly related to Jesus and Buddha,” Watkins said at the time. A BOP spokesperson didn’t immediately return an inquiry from The Post Thursday 11 months in solitary? I think that's considered very hard for most people. I wonder whether his mental health issues were making it impossible for him to be around others or something. Edit: The article reports, "He has since said he no longer supports Trump." He pretty clearly got the help he needed and is well now. Glad to hear it.
US prisons are pretty hellish, I'd say it would be nice if conservatives used this to realize that and support even mild reform (not going to hold any hope they ever join team abolition), but it seems like they want prisons to be hellish for some (if not most) people, they just howl when its one of their own.
I only "know" what I do from watching too many movies and tv shows. I thought federal prison was relatively not as hellish. Also thought solitary confinement was reserved for folks trying to kill their cell mates or escape or something. Maybe not. But I've heard solitary can be super traumatic. Not sure I'd wish that (or the rapes or other stuff that apparently happens in prison) on anyone. Even under reasonable conditions, the thought of being incarcerated is terrifying to me. The fact that I have my freedom is something I think about on days when I'm feeling the urge to complain about things.
Also keep in mind that he pleaded guilty to civil disorder and violent entry, he wasn't convicted of the much more serious crime of seditious conspiracy and despite his display in the rather humorous regalia he didn't actually violently attack law enforcement officers or maliciously destroy property.
