Republican plans now used to be TV comedy sketches like this one from all in the family.

More details coming out that the shooter was a 28 year old woman. Very strange.

If someone is intent on committing a violent crime, police generally can't prevent it, and are going to be constrained in their ability to respond and stop the crime in progress. The people in best position to stop a crime in progress are always going to be those on scene. I don't believe anyone has ever said anyone should be forced to carry, but the idea of a gun free zone creating a safer environment is laughable at this point.

Rinse and repeat until the next one. It is evident that it is the cost of doing business in modern America.

And people are bragging about how a good guy with a gun "stopped" this one.

    Please tell
Me what the answer is exactly? Not just a laundry list of what you want. What is the answer that all the politicians won’t do? What will stop the violence?

Start by banning high capacity assault weapons.

Also said she immediately went up to the 2nd floor. So I'm wondering if there is some backstory here.

While others are hung up on guns vs. no guns vs. restrictions and all that. I'm hung up on the fact that the personal files are never fully disclosed for genuine deep diving. I mean everything from health, medical, disciplinary details of the shooter's life. I'd even like to see the parents' records if the shooter is young enough. Our society is too hung up on privacy, but we need to stop protecting the privacy of the people most dangerous to our society.

Children killed at a Christian school? Seem's like the big guy in the sky took the day off. Might want to save those T's and P's until he is back in the office.

There almost certainly is. My gut feeling (absolutely nothing to back this up yet) is that it’s somehow related to a sexual assault.

I think people are too hung up on the idea that these people are in any way exceptional, and there is something to be unlocked deep in their psyche that would tell us what we want to know, if only we we had the information.

Sandy Hook is when I knew that this country had jumped the shark and didn’t care about kids. If a bunch of dead white children doesn’t enact change, then absolutely nothing will.

Perhaps the idea that a gun zone is safer is laughable as well.
Debunking Myths the Gun Lobby Perpetuates Following Mass Shootings

Of the 225 incidents of gunfire on school grounds identified by The Washington Post from 1999 to 2022, there were only two cases where a school resource officer was able to stop or disarm an active shooter;24 more often, armed guards were outgunned by well-equipped shooters who only needed seconds to inflict mass casualties—or, in the case of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, flee.25 Alternatively, gun violence occurred in at least 68 schools with an armed guard or police officer on grounds, indicating the presence of an armed guard is unlikely to deter a mass shooter.

After ever shooting, the The Onion runs the headline “No Way To Prevent This,’ Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens”

    More on gun-free zones:

Debunking Myths the Gun Lobby Perpetuates Following Mass Shootings

Fact: Most mass shootings occur in areas where guns are permitted. The gun lobby often claims that 98 percent of mass shootings occur in gun-free zones, but research has thoroughly debunked this.53 Of the 156 mass shootings that occurred from 2009 to 2016, only 10 percent occurred in gun-free zones. The majority of these shootings—63 percent—occurred in private homes.
