Pick one for yourself: progressive, moderate, old-school conservative, libertarian, extreme righty, fascist.

Moderate with an old school twist.Hey I’m old now , I am not ashamed of being a bit more conservative. I’m comfortable with that. But I’m certainly no a Trump guy. I thought he did a descent job , but as an individual I can’t stand looking at him.

Just a heads up, you're not allowed to have even any slightly positive opinions on trump in this forum. :emoji_joy:

I’m just surprised that you would like DeSantis. He’s a sicko in my opinion, while there are plenty of decent, qualified Republican politicians out there who are being shunned by the majority of Republicans. I’m a Democrat, but I would have voted for Paula Dockery over any other candidate out there. I don’t know if any of you remember her, but she wouldn’t have a chance anymore to win a Republican primary.

So you’re no trump supporter but you voted for him twice. Ok bro. And you’ll vote for him again after he humiliates tiny D. But you don’t support him. Got it.

Behold Ron 'culture war' DeSantis: The Florida emperor with no clothes
Opinion by Rex Huppke, USA TODAY

"A recent Yahoo News/YouGov poll showed most of DeSantis’ key Florida policies and goals — from banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy to cutting diversity, equity and inclusion programs on college campuses — are opposed by a majority of Americans. It’s not hard to conclude — and I say this as someone who was born and raised in the Sunshine State — that Florida ain’t like the rest of the country. And being a popular governor there doesn’t make DeSantis the political juggernaut Republicans hyped him up to be."

"With the announcement of the Out & Equal conference, which focuses intently on the same diversity, equity and inclusion issues DeSantis’ has been railing against, the Disney corporate kingdom's response was, essentially: “Whatever, pudding fingers. We’re just gonna move along with the rest of the world and not act weird about stuff.”

"The Miami Herald reported: “Dozens of iconic American companies — including Apple, McDonald's, Uber, Walmart, Hilton, Amazon, Boeing, Cracker Barrel and John Deere — are sponsoring the Out & Equal Workplace summit, which over 5,000 people are expected to attend. Several agencies, including the State Department and the CIA, are listed as government partners and will have booths at the conference.”

"So it’s not just Disney ignoring DeSantis’ anti-DEI, anti-woke, anti-Renaissance-statue ramblings. It’s the Walmarts and John Deeres and Cracker Barrels and, generally speaking, most of corporate America and the global companies that Florida kids will one day turn to for jobs."

    A must read:

Welp, DeSantis does it again!! He forces through legislation with no forward-thinking. Instead, just a rush for political statements and headline “wins.”

DeSantis this time forcefeeds so-called “tort reform” down the throats of Floridians. Forget for the moment that the people who cheer this have absolutely no understanding or concept that they’re the ones who will be screwed the most, because the legislation does nothing other than further empower and greatly enrich insurance companies in Florida. Forget for a moment that the end-result will be an increase in frivolous filings because of the lack of time to conduct adequate pre-suit investigations. That’s for another thread and topic.

He decided to slice the statute of limitations for ALL negligence cases from 4 to 2 years. Typically, legislation of this magnitude has an effective date months after the bill is passed, with a default effective date of July 1.

Not with DeSantis. In such a rush to enrich his insurer pals’ pockets, and make headlines, he took the extraordinary step of making the law effective immediately.

The result was the mass-filing of tens of thousands of lawsuits in one week in order to get the filings in before the new law took effect. Morgan and Morgan ALONE mass-filed 25,000 lawsuits last week.

The defense bar has filed an emergency petition asking the Courts to enter a blanket order giving them more time and resources to deal with the mass filings. They claim they don’t have the manpower or resources to timely respond.

Duh. Anyone who had an inkling of forward thinking would have predicted this.

DeSantis’ actions routinely show he is far more interested in making headlines and bolstering his brand than dealing with the proper administration of the State. He showed it with the rush to retaliate against Disney, with no forethought on the impact on the actual Counties, he does it with his War on Woke, and he now again he does it with his fellow insurance legislation.
