I understand, but what great memories you shared.

I selfishly think it was a golden time in the early 80’s. Tons of local eating & drinking spots. We were just getting our footing in both sports, so we celebrated EVERYTHING like it was a championship. The Halloween Ball was still in full swing…..

jfc, Bonham too? This level of attrition is disturbing as hell. Who can explain this away to make me feel better? Yikes.

It is uncomfortable, but I wouldn't label any of the ones that have announced as "we can't lose that guy." We're gonna need some bodies though

Bonham is a decent player, but he wasn't going to get minutes anyway. Golden made his decision on him halfway through the season.

I thought Bonham was outmatched for the SEC.

Some guys that lack size, like Nowell, can still ball. Bonham was too easily pushed around. He needs to go to a mid major.

Nowell is a floor general. Very impressive player.

He's as tough as they get. If he takes a bad shot, he follows it up with 3 dimes.

The alley oop to Key was brilliant.

Nowells is the perfect example. The guy is a dog, makes everyone around him even better. When the game is on the line, he steps up and seals it.

Key is another example of that kind of player.

Talent is important, no doubt. Being able to find those dogs though separates you from the rest. The great coaches can find them.

I think you're right and I came to UF for undergrad on the heels of that time ('88). Y'all were Playboy's #1 party school two or three consecutive years.

Lived in Gainseville during the seventies, went to in and out burgers many times. My Brother loved them all the way with cook onions on top.
Great Southern Music Hall, saw many shows and acts there like Ginger Baker’s Air Force Band and Steve Martin’s early act.
Gainseville had a protest against the Veit Nam war in 72, many free concerts behind the UF’s library.
I always will cherish my time in Gainseville. I was born in the Alachua General Hospital in the fifties!
Lurker I guess Austin was a pretty nice place to live late seventies early eighties.

Yeah, Austin is most certainly a big city now. But lots of great neighborhoods to visit. I was there for a week a year ago.

Before they split up, Pres and Ed's on 5th Avenue. Went through the drive through with a friend late one night. Got bbq goat with medium sauce. The medium was only blazin' hot. Tony Green called me the next morning and I told him about the bbq. He said "you 2 white boys were on 5th Avenue after dark???!!!"

It does make me wonder, “ why recruit a transfer that you potentially will bench?”.

That’s a miss on TG, not the player.

While having a sideline conversation with his coach during the same sequence….Lol.

It’s little snap-shot that make March Madness what it is.

Heyyyy, if you’re gonna do it, own it. I remember telling my friends back home about some of the things I experienced ( and I didn’t get out nearly as much), and they thought I HAD to be making some of this stuff up. Heck, all I had to do was take a walk across campus on Friday and decide which direction I wanted to go, based on how much trouble I could handle that night.

    Ohhhh, the good old days!!!
