    I told all of you that our defense started sucking after Grantham took us from a 4-3 base to a 3-4 or 3-3-5 base...

    I said we need to go to a modern 4-2-5 or a 4-3 type base... And guess what? OUR new DC is doing just that...

    Our defense is going to ROCK YOU next year...

    Well done, Rick. I truly believe that 21 and 22 were our low points a la 79 under Pell. Different sport, but when Lon Kruger (Men's Basketball) inherited the horror story and deplorable attitudes in the 1990/1991 season, he had to go through it to get to the other side. Once the garbage was gone, Florida Men's Basketball lifted off for 91/92.

    Similarly, this is what is going to happen with Billy Napier this season.

    The tear down/hard part is over. We have lift off.

    I think when this past class has a couple years under their belt and they are the majority of our starters, we will see some better days. Those couple dozen 18 year olds won’t be beating sec 20-21 year olds much this year. It’s going to be a bumpy year but we should start to see that we have some players that can make a difference.

    I wish the transfer portal, at the very least, forced kids to just one transfer per year. Is that change too much to ask for?

    That's going to hurt, but there is another transfer portal "season" coming up this summer. He will be hard to replace.

    I wonder if this is NIL related?

    Hopefully the main difference will be the talent level of the players. You can’t make a silk purse.,.

    Changed the defense from a passive, wait and see defense, to an ATTACK MODE defense.

    NO MORE PREVENT/PASSIVE DEFENSE. BLITZ IS ON THE MENU.

    More aggressiveness is the norm.

    The headlines for 23 recruiting class weren't great but that's just splash stuff. Napier recruited solid foundational pieces on defense this year that may grow into something special after a year of good nutrition, weights, and play time.

    In my head--- UF
    I listened to the whole thing.
    Lots to see and while I am guarded I do expect better things in season 2

    He said:

    Addition by subtraction;

    New found competition;

    He didn't watch the D as closely as the O but he said Raymond has much better communication; Says Cover 3 defense can be tough

    She’s kind of annoying IMO. Settle down a little.

    Since I watched this positive news, we’ve had an OL enter portal and possible exist the portal, and NOW I just read Zipper might be done for the year with a knee injury. Ugh, damn you false hope! I fall for this every damn spring.

    If we are going to be aggressive, we need the talent to back it up. You can’t have db,s two steps behind receivers that understand the scheme but they run a 4.8. You can’t scheme talent. Georgia coaches are good but they didn’t scheme their way to a championship. Most schemes work if you have the players to back it up. People saying our offense was faulty and they are using pro schemes. It’s not the scheme, it’s the inability to execute it because we didn’t have the horses.

    Our football speed was okay, not great by any means, but it wasn't high school bad. Remember football pads effect some players differently when talking about foot speed.

    But we can always use more speed. That's a no brainer.
