Some sanity finally starting to come in. Hope every transgender person lives a long and happy life, but you shouldn’t be competing where you have inherent advantage over your competitors.

So what happens to the South African hurdler who is genetically XXY and was banned from competition. Then got pregnant and gave birth. All of this is above my pay scale.

Exactly how it should be let sports governing associations make the decisions themselves. Govt has no role

They already banned her, they decided women's sports is about hormones levels unless they werent born women, then it isn't. They are all over the place on this issue.

If you are biologically a male I don't care what your hormone levels are, you shouldn't need, want, or have to compete against a biological female

The didn't ban her but they did require that she take a testosterone inhibitor if she wanted to participate in the 400 an event that she had dominated. She refused and didn't do quite as well in the longer distances in which she was allowed to compete. She was banned from the 400 and 800 but was allowed to compete in the 1500. She also tried to compete in the 5,000 and didn't even make the finals.

What if you are biologically both male and female?

Exactly. Sometimes states will have to make the call.

nah they don’t lose the desire to compete. I think you could have another class in some events like say triathletes. I am no longer competing in the big events but I’m always benchmarking against PR’s (sadly not so well). I used to be a local cycling god…

Yeah this is the real hard part.
The Florida high school athletics association and the California high school athletics association will likely have very different views on what constitutes fairness.

Don't they usually still have some sort of appointed oversight board?

That is a more difficult question and a very RARE situation I would assume (horrible word to use) that the parents at birth would make the decision as to how that child will live

Sure, but it's still "the government" if it's s the government sanctioning the board.
