Yeah, watching some of the really good teams in the tournament illustrated again for me the gap between them and us.

When someone uses easily in that context, it’s not meant to be taken literally as easy. That said, in this hypothetical situation with Michael Jordan, this team would have won the national championship easily, literally.

Not sure about the MJ piece , remember, he never made it back to the national championship game after his freshman year. (assuming your refering to a college age jordan vs MVP of the NBA jordan)

Before Beard at Texas got fired, I thought Florida and Texas were in similar situations under Shaka and White.
I think texas is clearly in a healthier situation than us even after firing Beard.

I think the future of college basketball will be balancing 3 transfers a year, with 3 freshman being developed along with 3 mature upper classman -- the new 1/3 rule

Dominique Wilkens and UGA had something to say about that "Unbeatable" UNC team.

UCF has a one-game winning streak in both sports, hardly "owning".

And mostly experienced kids Sampson developed. With the exception of the big kid (IMG maybe?), none were highly rated as preps.

Not sure 3 transfers a year, but definitely a balance of vets you developed, young kids ready to contribute, and portal guys of various ages and tenures. I actually think Golden has this precise thing in mind. Just hope he can make it happen.

Ralph’s Burgers for burger, Tater tots and a chocolate shake. If you remember them, as well as Cassidy’s Pizza, you were there in the early 80s. Mmmm

Wow don't know Ralphs! Was there in the early 90's. We had Doug's Dairy Twirl and Louis's near depot ave downtown.

Dominique is my guy but you gotta be kidding if you are comparing him to MJ. And I assumed we were talking hypothetically about MJ in his prime, not college MJ. Ain’t no way this team loses with him on the squad.

Ralph's on SW 2nd Ave was good but I usually went to In-N-Out burgers for a burger. There was one on SW 2nd Ave and one on Hawthorne Road. Snuffy's had better burgers but was more of a sitdown place/bar. I liked the sofas and arm chairs.

Pizza Palace on 13th and then at 6th and 23rd where the Dixie Cream was was our go to place for pizza back in the day. My soon to be wife's first meal in Gainesville was on her 24th birthday at Pizza Palace after driving her stuff from Austin, TX to our new apartment in Gainesville that was previously rented to Asher Sullivan.

The BBQ place at University and Waldo was really good. They had great BBQ goat.

Added in edit: I think it was called Ed's BBQ.

No there was a place called Nell's Take Out. It was a beer and liquor store in the student ghetto...NW 1st Avenue.
Whole inside wall was covered with pictures of customers...just snapshots thumbtacked to the wall.
This was late 70's, early 80's

No, I would never presume to put Wilkins at the same level as MJ.

FYI - My personal favorite off that Uber talented N Carolina squad was James Worthy. I was a Laker fan and few 6'-9" forwards could fill the lane like James and his spin move on the baseline was magnificent. He could even do that on
    McHale.

My Dad liked that place. When he had an overnight layover (he was an Eastern Pilot), I'd meet up with him there. I lived in a Frat House just behind that plaza.

Damn I miss those days, and him too. :(

You'd be surprised. Oftentimes, just one player can make a huge difference. For example, with just Keyontae Johnson on this team, I think we'd have been a lock for a tournament bid with good chance to make a decent run.
