AR is a physically “gifted” and “athletic” QB. A “talented” QB… I hope he gets there I realize we are now debating the definition of words so maybe this has spun off the rails a bit, but to me AR probably is the most physically gifted QB we’ve ever had. That’s as far as I’ll go in any direction
He’s got you pegged bro. You always the first to call people out but can’t take criticism yourself. Always resort to calling names.
The only thing he’s got me pegged for is my consistent push back against his consistent bashing of Mertz before the kid even has a chance to take a snap in a Gator uniform. I don’t give a rat’s ass at this point how Mertz’s and AR’s numbers compare - everybody needs to give this kid Mertz a chance and climb the hell off his back. What a bunch of sorry Gator fans you are, bro
That’s about every excuse in the world for AR except AR being responsible for his play. At some point, he can either play QB or he can’t, it’s not the coaches and other players.
So the hope is that we are looking for an AR type year? There will never be a year at Florida where last years qb play will be a year to try to repeat. It wasn’t bad or good, it was average. We had games that were as bad as it gets and AR’s play was at the center of those bad losses. We were historically bad. Zook got fired for less with a better qb. You don’t think qb play was a big part in our losses to Kentucky, Vandy. and almost USF? AR was bad, not average in those games.
If AR is the most talented, Tom Brady would be the worst QB ever. aAR can run faster and throw harder so he’s more talented. I’m quite certain that the best qb ‘s aren’t measured in arm strength and foot speed.
Physically gifted yes , talented at qb maybe not. Can he play guitar with the best in the world? Talented means you can actually do something, I’m not sure AR is all that talented as a qb. One day a qb that can run and throw like AR with have Tom Brady’s talent. Good lord , that will be rediculous but AR has not shown himself to be the next coming of Philip River’s or Tony Romo, much less Brady. He is physically gifted not doubt but hasn’t shown much yet in way of being a qb. If he picks it up, he does have advantages that most players will never have.
Do you listen to music or figure out how loud and fast it can be played to determine which music is better. Is faster and louder always better? I think there may be more to qb than how fast you can run and how hard a guy can throw. I know it keeps the nfl guessing so it must not be easy to figure out. I’ve always thought I had a better grip on it than the teams drafting but they are professionals,
Systems often, not always, make quarterbacks. I think AR still has a ways to go but again, didn’t play in a super friendly qb system. and, have we ever taken into account the coaching he got from Mullen was when he was about to head out the door. Mullen shut it down half way through that year so not to sure he’s received a lot of true coaching. The AR criticisms and overall bashing to me is sad and uncalled for. I’m his biggest fan in the NFL and hope he proves ( sad to say this) so many Gators wrong.
You can be a fan and still see reality . I was cheering for him every single snap. He’s just not a very good qb yet. Most guys by year three in college have shown more if it’s going to happen. Tons of great qbs come from places that don’t have the qb whisperer and they are still good. With AR I see freak athletic and average qb abilities at best. I’m not down on him personally or as a gator. It’s just what I see. It’s just like” baby, do these jeans make my ass look fat?” I mean, what the hell am I suppose to say?
You agree w me on coaching or lack there of he received from Mullen? Jury still out on Billy. I’m just saying pro scouts look at all this and see a kid that’s not received much coaching. Troubles me that all of our fans just expected him to all of a sudden be great. Doesn’t work that way. Look at Burrow’s first year numbers with an NFL cast of receivers and running back.
He had maybe tge best in the business his freshman year, Mullen who may or not be good his second year ( nfl guys have had worse), and Napier and co last year. Maybe Napier sucks too. My guess is if Patrick Mahomes had that exact path, he would still be good. Trask did well although with great receivers and and a weak running game. It is what it is. He played like he played. He’s getting drafted too 10 by a bad team and he will fail or succeed. He can succeed on a bad team like the puppy who went to Detroit or he can fail on a bad team and it can be blamed on everyone around him. To me, he gets to own his career whether he’s good or bad. Brady got to play on good teams and Marino played with shit. Brady is the goat and Marino has trouble being ranked too 5. Who was really better is a whole different discussion.
You're definition is way too limiting. Talent is not just being able to throw a ball through a brick wall. There is a lot of mental talent that goes into the QB position. Its also being able to consistently hit a moving target while putting the ball in a position such that the WR has the best odds of making the catch and the defense has the least odds of defending the play. There is way more to the position than just physical talent such as arm strength and how fast you can run.
Cam Newton - Auburn - Jr Passing: 2854yds 30td 7int 66.1% Rushing: 1473yds 20td Receiving: 2 42yds 1td
And he was good for a short career as he depended on his legs and was a shell of himself by somewhere around 30.
What you’re talking about is 90% of what separates the boys from the men . Brady would be at the near bottom if we are talking physical ability but he is definitely top 10 to ever play the position if not the best. AR is top 10 in that other 10% that is just icing on the cake but definitely not necessary to play qb.
If you asked any NFL team that if using the #1 pick on a QB would give you 8 years where your team was always interesting and you won at least 11 games 3 times, made a Super Bowl, and that QB would win a MVP, everyone would take that.
