I don't know what from my question makes you think I believe there is a masking god. If there was a even a small chance that wearing a mask could save someone else's life I was willing to do that as a responsibe person living in a society even if I had to contend with disastrous side effects like my face being hot or itchy.

Grifter's gonna grift. Why anyone would listen to anything someone who was wrong on lockdowns, school closures, masking, natural immunity and vaccinating kids is beyond me. If you want to believe in Oz, then go ahead, but don't worry, I'll be here to call it out.

There was never evidence that masks worked. It's ok to admit it now. Not sure why you think forcing people to mask is ok. It was all for virtue signaling. But if you want to keep masking go for it.

Masks no doubt worked for some as anxiety placebos.

There were and are behavioral and developmental consequences to the mask. Both negative and added reason why the mask was such a dumb policy knowing they don’t work. Even fauci knew they don’t work. But he decided game was more important than following what we know.

People actually thought they worked providing comfort that they would not spread Covid if sick with the disease. Add to the fact people were going to grab the things. Cough through them instead of in their arm. Multiple behavioral consequences are associated with wearing masks.

Worse is the developmental consequences and damage done to kids. Kids need to see facial movement in their development. Especially kids like my middle who dealt with really bad speech issues when she was 3 years old. It took 3 years of speech therapy to correct. We are blessed she dis not have to go through Covid during that time. I feel for those kids who these virtue idiots ignored.

My bet is you did not wear your mask at home. Which is the number one place Covid spreads. And my bet is you and your family packed in your car. Drove to the store. Got out and as you were walking in put your great virtue on your face. And then entered the open air store to show everyone how virtuous you were. Sigh.

Here's a good primer on why "percent change" can often be misleading. Care to actually attempt to county my argument on why percent change in mobility in Sweden is too misleading? Or can all you do is call me a grifter and other names?

The graph you posted did show a significant change in mobility in Sweden. Not as drastic a change as other countries, but then, percent change can often be misleading. That's because as the link above shows, starting numbers are important. Reminds me of one of my favorite press releases I ever wrote, when a small start-up company I worked for expanded from 12 to 14 employees, and added 500 sq ft of office space to go from 1,500 to 1,750. The headline read, "Company A Expands Workforce and Office Space by 17%" Wanted us to sound like we were competing with the big boys with hundreds of employees. And the math was technically correct. I just left out the actual numbers, which were tiny. But the percent change sounded impressive! Guess I'm just a grifting charlatan?

Here’s another good primer on percentage ...

Sweden was nearly 100% more mobile than was Peru, which had the hardest and longest lockdown in the Western Hemisphere (military enforced) and experienced horrific excess deaths.

It's not a binary answer of whether they work or not - there are degrees of effectiveness. Even the Cochrane study had to come out and clarify that they did not conclude that "masks don't work." If you're making decisions at a macro level you need to consider the level of effectiveness. Even if masks are only even 1% effective in preventing transmissions, and you have a COVID fatality rate of ~0.1%, that equates to ~3,500 lives potentially saved by wearing masks. If masks are 2% or 3% effective then you could potentially save 2x or 3x the amount of lives.

It sounds like you're trying to make the case that not only are masks not effective, but they actually result in more infections because of the reasons you outlined. I can't recall seeing any study that would back up that claim, but rather the types of things you mentioned would just reduce their potential effectiveness - not make them completely ineffective or worse.

If you want to make the claim that the potential developmental damage to kids outweighs potentially saving thousands of lives, that's a valid stance to have in being ok with that tradeoff - I just don't happen to agree.

You're right that I didn't wear a mask at home. I was never worried about myself or my family because we don't have any higher risk factors. I wore a mask in public to protect other, more vulnerable people who I may come across. I also would not have left the house, even with a mask, had I not been feeling well, but I'd imagine in large part due to only leaving the house once or twice a week for groceries or doctor appointments, I never had any sort of cold, sniffle, etc during 2020 or even the majority of 2021 for that matter.

    This thread in a nutshell:

    Something bad might happen.
    Games might get rescheduled.
    Games are gone.
    Masks might happen.
Six weeks of full lockdowns are dumb.
Six weeks of full lockdowns are not dumb.
    Masks WILL BE dumb.
Masks WILL NOT not be dumb.
    Vaccines might happen.
    Drink bleach!
    Games came back.
    LIGHTNING WIN THE STANLEY CUP.
    Vaccines are happening.
    Masks ARE dumb.
    Masks ARE NOT dumb.
    Vaccines are helpful.
    Vaccines are dangerous.
LIGHTNING WIN THE STANLEY CUP... Again.
    Masks are STILL dumb.
    Masks are STILL not dumb.
    Yay and anti-vaxer died!
    Schools are open.
    Masks are MOST DEFINITELY dumb.
Masks are MOST DEFINITELY not dumb.
    Viruses dont exist.
    That's dumb.
    Pandemic is over.
    Masks WERE dumb.
    Masks WERE NOT dumb.
Viruses still dont exist part 2.

... Oh yeah... But about those masks...

I am just pointing out what we knew and fauci knew. You were not helping anyone by wearing a mask. You were just virtue signaling away in open air stores. I am sure you walked to your seat at a few restaurants and took it off as well a few times lol!

Fine - I give up. You and 95 are just incapable of understanding and thinking in gray areas. Everything is good/bad or works/doesn't work. I'll just continue to be thankful that you and he were not in charge of making decisions related to public health. I'll just go on my merry way as a grifting, virtue signaling, charlatan.

You put a lot of time and effort into this ? Where do you stand on the mass-psychosis and crimes against humanity ?

A lot of time. I mean it took like 2 minutes probably.

And I stand somewhere in the middle like I do on most things. Both extremes went too far and the truth is likely more in the middle on almost every part of the Covid phenomenon.

Sort of a moderate stance on mass-psychosis and crimes against humanity ? Sort of in-between outrage and meh ?

Perhaps you now grasp why there are two and the Russian bot that make up the three many of us put on ignore. Truth, logic, and simple common sense are shriveled in the face of their intellectual dishonesty.
