I'm not repeating myself again, but go back and read my comments over the last couple of pages, then read them a second time just for good measure. Maybe something will finally click inside that brain of yours. Probably not though. But hey, I guess ignorance is bliss.

I don’t care about your opinion. I deal with facts and objective reality. It is a literal fact Mertz will have to improve his passing by 1000, 10 TDs and 0 INTs to be near AR last year. That’s what the data tells us. It doesn’t matter if AR missed short throws or didn’t rah rah his teammates. His total production is what it was. His total production includes his excellence, his screw ups and everything in between

And it doesn’t matter if Napier loves Mertz. Who cares about feelings? What matters is production. If Mertz gets that 1000/10/0 I’ll be thrilled. If he does even better I’ll be extremely happy. But his tape and his stats are what they are.

OK, we'll throw out all the variables, let's dumb it down and play your game.....

Richardson had 17 pass TD, 9 rush TD, total of 26.
Mertz had 19 pass TD, 2 rush TD, total of 21.
Using your "basic math" explanation, that's a difference of 5, not 10.

Richardson threw the ball 327 times in a balanced offense.
Mertz threw the ball 286 times in a run heavy offense.
If Mertz throws 400 passes at 7.5 YPA (his rate last year), that's 3000 yds.

Using his same TD% as last year, that would amount to 27 pass TD from Mertz. There, you hit your magic numbers. Mertz will "improve" his production from sheer volume alone. Never mind the other dozen factors that may help elevate his game.

Now if you want to tell me why Mertz won't have 400 pass attempts next year, I'm all ears. Keep in mind, Levi Lewis had 400 attempts for Napier his last year at Louisiana, and he was a very limited passer. Also keep in mind Wisconsin had an extremely run heavy offense, and Mertz wasn't asked to be their main source of production.

Maybe that got was privy to the fact that he looked pretty damn amazing when he WASNT HURT from play 2 game 2 for AR when a KY player tackled and purposefully twisted it, ruining his season.

Go watch the play. Was so obvious. And as he heeled he got a little better. When ever saw him for more than 2.5-3 games all season.

He missed way too many routine throws. If you want to blame the WRs for lack of catching the ball, you have to blame the QB for throwing lasers 5 yards out as well. He can throw the long ball well, but that’s not the call every play. Rushing stats are deceiving as well. Is he a great runner? Absolutely but we needed his legs the entire game to sustain drives, not just the last 15 minutes when you’re down. That matters, typically you call that padding your stats in garbage time. Great athlete, good kid, meh actual QB.

Nfl network ran a ticker ranking various positions. Somehow they have AR as the 10th ranked player in the draft but he doesn't crack their top 5 QBs.

It’s not additive like you seem to think. A QB that can run tremendously helps the RB run game. There is zero chance a Mertz led running attack can even sniff an AR one (just looking at RB efficiency).

You are also assuming all AR runs and some RB go towards Mertz pass attempts. That’s obviously not the case. I’d easily take the under on AR passes + AR runs = Mertz passes on a per game basis.

And 7.5 YPA is his peak. His other two years as a starter averaged 6.7

And your scenario… Mertz peak YPA, gets all additional rushes + some RB rushes to pass (far eclipses his historical attempts which has averaged 285 the last two years)….. all we get is Mertz equalling AR. Good solid season.

But guess what? You are bitching about such a season from AR. If Mertz does the same thing you’ll be back here bitching about that

Given that he’s going to have to get around 8.5 YPA to get you to stop complaining. That is a massive improvement

Absolutely not! What you're forgetting is that LS1 is the world's expert on all things football and you, I, all the NFL scouts and GMs that have AR in the top 10 of the draft are just a bunch of morons.

Also his stats tell all truths and everyone else's have no meaning.

I'm sure he'll be on here shortly to educate us some more.

We’ll keep in mind that there are more late round draftees still in the league as starters vs 1st round players. If you want to put all your faith in the “all knowing” scouts, you go ahead and do that….they all loved Jamarcus Russel and hated Tom Brady…

I'm not assuming anything, and it's not my scenario. I'm just playing your game, and now you're moving goalposts. First it was all about simple math, but now context is relevant? It's almost like production is made up of volume, efficiency, and a dozen other factors. Imagine that.

The only thing I'm "bitching" about regarding AR is his lack of accuracy, and not living up to his potential. He had the talent to win a Heisman, and with great talent comes great expectations. He fell short.

You keep proving you don't know how to read, while continuing to put words in my mouth. Clearly you still have no idea what points are even being argued. Just hearing what you want to hear.

Congrats you found one thing we agree on.

BTW, while I enjoyed watching Scott Hall for many years, his ended up being one of the saddest stories in pro wrestling. May he finally rest in peace.

Dude all you’re doing is bloviating opinions and calling them facts. They’re not. Pontificating about how Mertz may or may not play based upon some stats on AR is not facts - it’s nothing more than speculating. So we know your opinion. No need repeating it.

    No

I’m talking about how Mertz has played

    And how AR has played

It’s historical. No what if games.

Either way this is more about GC posters being so delusional to think that AR played poorly.

Average compared to what? He was average for the SEC. But good compared to overall major college football

However it is pretty obvious he was substantially better last year than Mertz has been in his multiple years starting. Mertz would have been near the bottom of the SEC, a tick above Ashford. How this is controversial is beyond me. Water is wet

Oh for sure dude - everybody knows they both played in the same offense with the same players and identical coaching schemes and coordinators. Solid basis for a direct comparison - for sure

We all know you hate Mertz and condemn him to failure this year because of how AR played last year.
Hate Napier too for signing him right. You better keep your pie hole shut if these guys start playing well. You will have no privilege to celebrate our wins this year. Done it to yourself pal. Keep bitching but no celebrating. Enjoy

AR played "poorly" compared to the expectations we had for him. It's all relative. Nobody on here thinks he played like Treon Harris or Skyler Mornhinweg.

Was AR a good player? Absolutely. Do we wish he would have been more consistent? Of course.

It's delusional to look at Mertz's numbers at Wisconsin and assume he will play exactly the same at Florida.

    ^ this.

It's not a difficult concept to grasp.
