It’s all good, though. She noted “fake” charges were the only issue. Republicans should have no problem with clearly legit evidence. ;)

That memo is a legal opinion only, it has never been tested in court.

In the eyes of just about every former federal prosecutor who read the report, Mueller set out multiple instances of obstruction of justice with adequate evidence to support criminal prosecution. Some would have liked to have seen the validity of that memo tested in court. Mueller also testified before Congress that, although he felt constrained by that memo, there was nothing to prevent Trump from being indicted for obstruction of justice (no, not Congress) after he left office.

The instances of obstruction of justice are pretty clearly set out, I suspect you simply lack the education, training and experience to recognize those crimes as crimes.

These may not be the strongest charges against Trump, but let's remember, Michael Cohen plead guilty to these same charges and Trump was listed as a co-conspirator. If we are truly about equal justice for all, and nobody above the law, why should Cohen go to jail for this crime, but Trump, a co-conspirator, not be charged at all? When someone hires a hitman to kill someone, but people get equally charged. Paying off a porn star to remain quiet doesn't reach the same level, of course, but Cohen has paid for the crime he committed on behalf of Trump. Trump should be equally charged, in my opinion.

And no, we aren't scared that Trump is innocent. We're worried that the MAGAts will have another reason to riot. The last one, on Jan 6, wasn't very successful. But many insurrections build on past failures. Really not sure how far the MAGAts will go to protect their orange deity, but there sure are plenty of talks on another Civil War on the far, right wing Internet sites. I wouldn't discount this as just idle chatter.

Substitute Clinton or Obama or Biden for Trump and suddenly these rubes would be all for prosecuting. We are either a nation of laws or we are not.

If a country is going to have a civil war, can't it find something better to fight over than a POS like Donald Trump? What a sad country we have become.

It was Donald Trump who opened the gigantic can of worms that is now infesting the country.

I wasn't aware of it. I thought things were fairly normal as far as American normalcy goes till the arrival of the orange bull(y) in the china shop.

Maybe where you live. But from where I live and travel, the amount of discord and disconnect rose to levels never seen in my 56 years of life under Trump’s administration.

I’m no lawyer, but from a simple google on the subject it doesn’t look like an extradition hearing in Florida is necessarily a slam dunk for the requesting state. At the very least, it looks like a great opportunity to grandstand and argue politically motivated charges in a way that a New York court would never allow. Florida is also a lot more likely to negotiate a private opportunity for Trump to turn himself in, post extradition bond, and be back at home before the media know it has happened. This is, of course, in contrast to New York, which would likely try for the dramatic arrest, tense stand-off with Secret Service, and perp walk.

Maybe he will barricade himself in Mar a Lago, call for his worshippers to surround the place and dare the authorities to come in and get him. I think he may play that card later, not at this juncture.

You can't just look at Florida law. Article IV, Section 2, Clause 2 of the US Constitution is the Extradition Clause. Congress enacted 18 U.S.C. § 3182 to implement it. NY can go to Federal court if DeSaster tries to jerk them around and he will be ordered to comply. If the paperwork and other simple requirements are met, there is ZERO discretion.

That is what I was asking about in an earlier post, at what point does the federal government get involved in such a dispute between states. I see, that, too, as another opportunity to grandstand about the political nature of the charges in a way that New York would not allow, if nothing else.
