Tex-Mex crunchy tacos tonight because my wife and son like them. For me they are meh. I'd rather have carnitas or chicken tinga tacos with soft tortillas.

Tonight we’re having Honey Baked Ham, homemade Mac & Cheese, and fresh pinkeye peas with snaps and pod okra.

We got a solid 2” of rain today.

It was good to see the team get somewhat dialed this weekend.

Tonight we’re being treated to Ms. Jan’s country fried steak and gravy over white rice.

Our sides will be leftover petite butter beans and pinkeye peas with snaps.

We have had a beautiful but windy day here today.

I have been battling a really crummy sinus thing for a while so not much cooking. I think my son is bring home pizza to eat while watching the game.

I felt good enough on Saturday to attend the game and Sunday to do a lot of carpentry work but really starting feeling bad Sunday night. Perhaps it would have been smarter to just rest instead. Today is better than yesterday.

Added in edit: Not covid. I tested negative twice.

Feel better soon Lurk……I feel like I know what you mean. My heart rhythm got outta wack last week and I had to go through the TEE/Cardioversion procedure-they had to shock twice to get it back on track……

It’s been cooler here in the evenings lately so tonight we’re making a big pot of chili to serve over white rice covered with Sargento shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

That’s right—that means chili cheese dogs are on tap too.

My wife made clam linguini tonight.

Tomorrow the plan is Chicago style hot dogs but using Hebrew National hot dogs (almost as good as Vienna Beef) and without poppyseed buns because we can't get them. Dinner before the game.

Lazy week, this week. Almost ashamed to admit, I went with Bean & Bacon Campbell’s soup, with grilled cheese. I did make my wife blackened tilapia to go along with her salad.

After shoveling the driveway & sidewalk for the 3rd time in 2 days, I did go 4.5 miles on the treadmill. So feel like treating myself to a Michigan Dogs for tomorrow. Took out the last jar to defrost tonight …and already made the Carolina firecracker slaw.

Huge win tonight! Makes me want to send Sproat a $10 Starbucks gift card. He was awesome.

Forgot to post supper last night with that Ho-hum ball game going on but it was straight ballpark fare.

We had chili cheese dogs and ice cold longnecks.

What a great baseball game it was last night!

Looks like we’re all the same page. Michigan dirt dogs w/ slaw for tonight. Also hand cut French fries and a few cold Modelos to enjoy during the double header. Hopefully Waldrep can put together a similar outing as Sproat. Go Gators!

With the doubleheader yesterday (watched the afternoon game on TV with my MIL and our dogs. Attended the evening game with my MIL and son. My wife stayed home with dogs and watched on TV) we ate wings from somewhere between games and they were meh. Also had a side of soggy fried okra.

Today I spent most of the day cutting mortises for replacement wooden window screens and gluing them up. Ran out of clamps but they are all cut. I am really glad that I have a Powermatic mortising machine instead of either hand cutting or using a router to get most of the wood out and then chiseling the corners. Don't tell anyone but in the past I have used a router for this kind of job and cut them a little long. My laziness was hidden by the piece with the tenon.

Anyway with all the carpentry work my MIL offered to buy us Thai dinner from Wah-Ha-Ha.

Tonight I’ll be grilling 1” thick bone-in pork chops indirect over cherry wood smoke. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack.

Inside we’re having freshly steamed green cabbage and fried cornbread to go with.

My choice of adult beverage this afternoon will be a tumbler of Four Roses Single Barrel/Private Stock—104*

Leftover Michigan dogs w/ slaw. No complaints… about the food anyway. But no game to watch this weekend left me bored. These are the kind of days I would normally be working on a project in the kitchen.

Spent the day with my wife visiting her old college roommate who was visiting her daughter and grandson in Tampa. So no cooking for me.

My wife's friend's husband is a HUGE UK basketball fan but he wan't with us. He was at home back in Michigan. We went to the 2014 Final Four with him and his son where we had a great time but were both disappointed in the results. I told my wife's friend to be kind to her hubby when they talked on the phone later. Nice guy. Now that he is retired from GM I can tell about getting a drive around the GM proving grounds and an up close look at a protoype Vette with all kinds of camo paint on it so that Car and Driver or Road and Track couldn't get a good picture from outside the compound. I am sure that everything he did for us that day was totally off limits

Tonight we’re going with a pot of white chicken chili. It should go well with this cold snap we have going on.

With this weather adult libations will be by individual choice.

Tacos are always a great dinner for watching baeball. Going to be switching back and forth between UF/FSU and USA/Japan.

Making two kinds of tacos. The one I like is chicken tinga with soft corn tortillas. Made pickled red onion especially for it. Also making Tex-Mex tacos with hard shells.

Made a batch of pico de gallo that can go on either.

Tonight we’re basically making a pot of beef stew except we are using pork stew meat instead of beef. Everything else is pretty close to the same ingredients, vidalia onions, carrots, and celery.

We will have fried cornbread on the side.

The longnecks are iced down and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled.
