Well, first, I don’t think Desantis would piss on Trump if he was on fire, so little if any help there. Second, extradition is a judicial matter. I don’t think Desantis could interfere if he wanted to. But I wonder what our lawyers think.

DeS would help DT if it got him his endorsement. That is why it is so important to convict him of state crimes that DeS can't issue a pardon for. that pardon is about the only thing that would convince dt to endorse DeS.

There’s a dilemma there. If Desantis helps and Trump avoids conviction, Trump won’t endorse anyone other than himself. If Trump gets convicted or even seriously embroiled by trial, then his endorsement is less than worthless. I think Desantis is probably enjoying this.

    Arresting Donald Trump (townhall.com)

If the evidence was so strong, why the fear of the American people?

The answer is simple. The “evidence” is non-existent and they already know in a deep place inside themselves that the American people are fair-minded. They understand that Americans are watching the next iteration of a witch hunt that has been long in the making and thwarted via self destruction at every point where they were convinced they had stopped him.

But the left hates America, and when someone comes in and shatters the facade that allowed that hatred to fester, then put simply, he becomes the number one problem.

So they slowly dripped Russia Collusion for years—only to have the truth revealed that it was his opponent who had worked with Russia to collude against him.

No, not just once again but continuously you are incorrect here. The memo and practice of not indicting a sitting president was well known and discussed all through the Mueller investigation by responsible journalists. The only remedy for crimes committed by a sitting president was and is Impeachment and Removal. Indictment was never an option or objective of the Mueller Investigation. The reference in the report was a useless CYA note. If there had been enough findings in the investigation to indict, then there would have been sufficient evidence to impeach. Coming up empty handed from the Mueller investigation, Pelosi, Nadless, Schiff, and Swallowswell fabricated a ridiculous “obstruction of congress” charge stemming from an at least second hand version of events from a phone call between Trump and Zelensky discussing corruption in the Ukraine government.

So please don’t give us this horse crap about Mueller “wouldn’t” indict. We all knew very well that “Mueller” couldn’t indict a sitting president in practice, and “didn’t” provide, in theory or substance, enough evidence for a Democratic House with a 35 seat majority to bring forward Articles of Impeachment.

And BTW, you can’t blame cowardly republicans for this. If an impeachment was not feasible for any real findings in the Mueller Report to refer to a Republican led Senate, then an “obstruction of congress” charge damn sure wasn’t feasible to refer to the exact same senate. But it was presented, thus exposing that the whole four year nightmare was a sham.

Now it’s Bragg’s chance to make a mockery of the legal system with an indictment, I expect that he will see a similar outcome. I also expect that he knows this, but will pursue for political purposes. As I’ve said here many times; I wish Trump would just not run. Biden has proven that 78 years old is just too damn old to hold that job, and I really don’t have the desire to watch democrats and the media wet themselves in temper tantrums for the next five years. Of course, the democrats will still have fits just like they did with all of the other republican presidents in my lifetime. They just took steroids and drank energy drinks to do it with Trump. Meanwhile, the country and world are a mess and most from both parties are not paying attention to the real problems that need to be addressed, much less bringing forward any solutions.

I cannot see Trump doing that because he would ultimately be extradited although it could be another delaying tactic. If Trump decided to force extradition it would put DeSantis in a real bind. If he signs an extradition order he would alienating those members of MAGA nation who might be inclined to vote for him rather than Trump. If he refused to sign an extradition order he would also be boosting Trump's candidacy.

He would also be refusing to exercise his oath office. I’m not a expert but extradition between states, ordered by a Court, is not a discretionary decision.

If he “fails to appear”, wouldn’t he then be considered a fugitive? By all means I hope Mr Law and Order chooses that route. Maybe NY sends Dog the bounty hunter after him. :emoji_joy:

Trump will go. Imagine the free air time he will get. This case is so weak even Cohen, Powell, or Giuliani could defend him and win. They have no intention of taking this to trial.

First, why not fight the extradition? A Florida court is much more likely to hear arguments on why the charges are politically motivated, and that would play out nationally, however the Florida court ultimately ruled.

Edit: My next question would be, what if Florida ruled against extradition? Does that ruling go to a federal court to resolve a dispute between two states, or does this become a frozen conflict where Trump cannot leave Florida? Would make campaigning a challenge to say the least …

We actually agree somewhat on the issue. While I think Trump is guilty, of the potential cases against the Orange One this one is the weakest and once again if the crime is charged as a felony the state will have to prove that Trump's payoff to Stormy and the subsequent coverup were attributable to the campaign. By no means a slam dunk. As I previously stated Bragg would have had a much stronger case against Trump if he charged the Donald with fraudulently inflating the value of his properties.

I’m pretty certain states are required by law to extradite. Of course, this is only if the alleged criminal is in state custody, and obviously Trump is not. If Trump didn’t appear, he would simply be a fugitive from Justice from NY.
