Vault average is 49.36 for 2023, including the SEC meet. Which likely won't get you the brass ring on NC night. I just posted that my hope is they're saving their best Vault rotation of the year for that night.
Team VT UB BB FX Total Florida 49.375 49.700 49.675 49.675 198.425 Alabama 49.525 49.400 49.375 49.550 197.925 LSU 49.500 49.325 49.350 49.625 197.800 Kentucky 49.325 49.600 49.375 49.400 197.675 AA Trinity Thomas 39.80
*Trinity's two 10.000's gives her 27 career 10.000's. NCAA record is 28. *Trinity completed her 2nd Season Slam (10.000 on all 4 events) when she scored a 10.000 on UB at SECs. *Florida's 198.425 raised our NQS to 198.110 and moved us ahead of Michigan's 198.080 and into 2nd in the NQS Standings. This means we are going to the Pittsburgh Regional Go Gators!
This year Trinity has scored a couple of 10.000's on Vault. Sloane's season high is 9.975, Leanne and Kayla 9.95 and Payton 9.925. Rachel's elbow is still bothering her but she did score 9.90 in the 1st meet. Victoria has a 10.0 start value vault but she's probably having nightmares from her last vault. And Savannah has been injured. Chloe's vault has a 9.95 start value. 9.825 is her best score. This is our Vault line-up. Our best hope is for they are all "lights out" at the same time at NCAAs. Or we score around 49.700+ on the 3 other routines and Oklahoma is a bit wobbly on Beam, or a little sloppy on Floor...
All the other non-SEC seeded teams were struggling on vault-except for Oklahoma: PAC-12 Championship Team VT UB BB FX Total Utah 49.425 49.375 49.525 49.600 197.925 UCLA 49.175 49.575 49.500 49.600 197.850 California 49.275 49.450 49.625 49.475 197.825 Oregon State 49.125 49.075 49.500 49.500 197.200 Arizona State 49.000 49.200 49.325 49.175 196.700 B1G Ten Michigan 49.425 49.725 49.475 49.375 198.000 Michigan State 49.250 49.350 49.525 49.425 197.550 Ohio State 49.350 49.275 49.150 49.200 196.975 Big 12 Oklahoma 49.500 49.625 49.800 49.575 198.500 Denver 49.275 49.300 49.525 49.075 197.175
I was a student at UF in the 70's when there was no gymnastics in the SEC. I remember going to some gymnastics club meet at Alligator Alley and they had to use the equipment area and not the main floor. Then UF hired Ernestine Weaver around 1979 to build a gymnastics program and she was a revelation for UF and the conference. Unfortunately, Bama and UGA ran over us for a long time so to be on top now is really sweet. The SEC meet is just awesome - great student athletes and great people.
Thoughts on SECCs Vault: 1. Chloi Clark is at her likely max limit at 9.825 2. Payton Richards seemed a bit low to me at 9.825 although a coach was standing in the way of a camera view of her landing. The vault looked good to me. 3. Trinity Thomas also seemed low at 9.875. She had a small hop forward on her landing, say a .50 deduction, but where did the other .75 come from? 4. As an alternative to Chloi Clark, Rachel Baumann was in the Georgia vault lineup for 4 years. She can do a 10.0 starting vault value, but she most likely would start at 9.50. It just seems to me that Rachel has a bit more upside than Chloi in talent and experience. 5. The all-arounder who we have missed this season is Morgan Hurd. She has just not been able to get herself together since her 2022 knee injury. Hopefully, Morgan's 3rd through 5th years will be charmed. She is listed as a redshirt freshman on the roster.
Have to wonder if Hurd, and to a lesser extent McCusker can ever fully return to previous form. Hope so, cause next season could be a challenge, have to hope Wong and Dicello return to school
think bars and beam will be the most we wll get due to riley's chronically injured ankles-----morgan warmed up on bars, but isn't needed on bars. i hope she can get back to performing all-around at a high level again.
Anyone know anything about Savannah Schoenherr coming back for regionals and nationals or is she shutdown down for the season? It has been 2 1/2 months and she has been out of her boot for weeks. I was hoping she could help out on bars and be a backup for vault if needed. EDIT: Found this on the internet: Will Savannah Schoenherr red shirt and take a 6th year? What about Cami Hall? : Gymnastics (reddit.com) Savannah is still training on the bars and is working on her dismount. Looks like there is a chance that she could perform at regionals or nationals if needed. Apparently, vault is too hard on the foot she broke. One person speculated that Savannah could take a redshirt and come back next season. Since she is graduating with her master's degree in sports management, I don't see this as a realistic possibility. That would put her at Florida for a 6th year. I was surprised when she announced she was coming back for 2023.
If you want to watch regionals, you'll have to purchase ESPN+ at $9.99 a month plus tax & fees. I purchased it for the softball at Stetson game, so I've already gotten some use out of ESPN+ which I do not carry for streaming normally. I'll cancel before it renews in April. For those of you who know I've been sick, I'm doing much better.
I’m not sure how gymnastics works but I’d think if she was going to redshirt she’d have to have made that decision much earlier than now.
I ride piggyback on Disney+ for my granddaughter on one tv only. We keep our granddaughter on a regular basis and my daughter wants her to have access to Disney+ here, think she pays a little extra for the service. I really don't need or want Hulu. I have more than I can watch now. I'll be cancelling ESPN+ before the monthly renewal comes up. They just don't have content that I tend to watch regularly. The bundle at $12.99 plus tax/fees is a good deal for someone who watches and wants to keep the services.
Hulu is pretty crappy but it’s in the bundle so whatever. Gotta have Disney for the little ones and I need ESPN for the sports lol! Moana is the favorite of our little ones . Oh and Bluey also!
