So, Fabian currently sits at .235. And, that is on all non-conference pitching. Oomph!

One interesting decision Sully will have today with the double header will be at first base. Cags will be pitching tonight so that should keep him in the DH for both games. I look for Cags to be aggressive at the plate in the first game today since he went hitless Thursday. Riopelle will be behind the plate in the first game for Waldrep pitching. Bama will also be pitching a RHP for the first game and a LHP for the second. I would recommend Halter sit the first game against the RHP and start the second game at 3B against the LHP. Recall he hits LHP much better than RHP. So Shelnut could be at 3B for the first, leaving Fabian to start at 1B for the first game today. Maybe not ideal but its what we got.

If Heyman is still recovering does that mean Riopelle would catch both games? Probably not so look for Lastres to catch for Caglianone and Riopelle to play 1B in the second game. We are still wondering about Prevesk in the OF sometime today and Schiekofer isn't hitting it very well either right now. Hopefully Sully tries something different in one of the games today for the OF.

Sproat was awesome last night. Took the pressure off of the bullpen now we can go all out today. Good to see Cade Kurland get ahold of a ball, should boost his confidence against SEC pitching. I'm excited for this kid we have him for three years.

this is what I said, If Robertson gets on base, Kurland will hit. I knew the moment Robertson got on it would effect that lefty and he got behind and had to throw fb to Kurland....the freshman made him pay

They have had Dale Thomas out in left quite a bit since Wyatt went down - he may get a shot out there soon.

Evans needs some time off. He's just not seeing the ball and is pressing more and more. We miss Langford big time. Getting 2 of 3 in your opening SEC series is very good. Kurland had a terrible at bat in the 8th inning of Game 2 today, but has been great and clutch overall. Cags had a bad series, but that happens. Let's see how he does next week vs. FSU and Ole Miss. Shelnut is struggling against good pitching as well, but I'd stick with him for now. Halter is coming around and playing very well at 3rd.

No deep dives for me tonight. We have the whole weekend to review the performances. But I will say this. We need to find a closer. Neely and Fisher are doing well but they are up and down and don't seem to fit the mold to me. Coppola is still a big unknown so we can only speculate. Maybe Hartzog needs another look at. Abner is another that is doing better. Nesbitt never pitched this weekend so he looks to be the midweek starter for awhile. At this point if Coppola comes back and steps right in as a closer he might be our best hope. Maybe....

I just read on another thread that Heyman and Langford are making progress about an early return, but Coppola has had a setback. Wouldn't count on him anytime soon.

It looks like the weather forecast for this Tuesday is looking much better. Hopefully we get to play in Tally and turn things around and hopefully get the bats going again.

FSU is 12-6 as of right now, with games today and tomorrow against Boston College. UCF beat them twice last week, 14-3 & 6-3. They did take 2 of 3 from a very good TCU team earlier, and they lost 2 of 3 to Florida Gulf Coast. While not as good as they used to be, it's still FSU and my 2nd favorite team (next to the Gators) is whoever is playing the Noles.

In case anyone is wondering our batting comparisons over the weekend, here's how the starters did over the series. I'm only looking at hits and walks

    Robertson - went 4 for 11 with 2 walks
Kurland - went 3 for 10 and no walks
Caglianone - went 0 for 11 with 1 intentional walk
Rivera - went 7 for 12 and no walks
    Riopelle - went 2 for 10 with 1 walk
    Evans - went 0 for 9 with 1 walk
Schiekofer - went 1 for 8 and no walks
    Shelnut - went 1 for 10 with 1 walk
Halter - went 3 for 9 and no walks

Rivera got on 7 times, Robertson 6 times, Halter and Kurland each 3 times. That's 2 batters that only totaled 2 walks for the whole series. Not counting HBP for this one, but interesting to see Kurland leads the team with 11 on the season and more than doubles anyone else.

Looking ahead to Mississippi, the Rebels are struggling at Vandy, having lost their first 2 and about to get swept in Game 3 heading to the 9th. Their stats indicate problems with their pitching with most of their starters with an ERA above 5 and higher. Hopefully our bats wake up in Oxford.

Their #1 guy, Hunter Elliott is out for a few weeks, which is part of their pitching woes. Actually they only scored 4 runs in their 3 losses. So a complete lost weekend for them.

Haha, I always root for whoever is playing them. They don’t seem to hit a ton this year but they still have some arms.

Boston College beat FSU 2 out of 3 this weekend, dropping the Noles to 12-8, 3-3 in the ACC. FSU has lost 5 of their last 6 games heading to the game with the Gators on Tuesday.

The early returns from the scores this weekend make it look for us like the first 5 SEC series will be much easier than the last 5 series.
    Alabama(1-2), Ole Miss(0-3), Auburn(0-3), Tennessee 0-2?, Georgia(0-3)
    South Carolina (3-0), Missouri 2-0?, Texas A&M 0-2?, Vanderbilt (3-0), Kentucky (3-0)
Texas A&M to me is still an unknown since they are hosting LSU and ranked 15th (over rated going into the weekend).

When talking about the new run rule in the SEC, I remember someone researching it and said it wouldn't be a big deal and there would have only been a few all of last year if the rule would have been in place. I'm not trying to call anyone out, and don't even care who it was, but I think we've already had 2 the first weekend and it ain't even over yet. Seems like the run rule might be a coaches best friend to get out of there early when the opportunity presents itself. It will be interesting to see if this builds over time instead of just winning the series.

Don't see the problem. Missy St lost 17-3 to Ky today. Don't know if it was 7 inn by design or mercy rule but 2 more inn of misery would not have mattered except maybe to a couple of bench guys and the concessionaires/advertisers.

I thought the discussion was more centered around a team no longer having the possibility of coming back once down 10….not that anyone would get run-ruled.
