You're trying to have it both ways.

You're characterizing any restriction you disagree with on abortion as religion-based, yet you agree with certain restrictions... but you're avoiding any scrutiny you're receiving on those restrictions because "you can live with" fully legal abortion.

But then, you don't want to be held to the standard of fully legal abortion.

So you basically want to be treated as you support abortion completely on the freedom end, but you support abortion only to about 15 weeks with some exceptions on the humanity (morality ) end.

Republicans now have very little similarity to 150 years ago. Same for Democrats. It’s really an irrelevant comparison.

It isn’t so much about party. I’m just tired of people telling me and legislating how me and my family should live our lives. Whether that comes from Democrats or Republicans it doesn’t matter. In spite of what you may think I have no affinity to either.

Take it or wave it. We both know the country is decaying and lacking direction.
I’m not a huge religion guy, but I can see there is correlation in secular movement and decaying morals in the US. Perhaps we have become too liberal and tightening of abortion timeframe would decrease teen sex.
I don’t hate voting for the values I believe could help some who lack direction.
    I know it’s slippery…I’m thinking out loud.

Unless you’re drawing the line at 15 weeks.

A vast majority of pro lifers are Christian. For most pro lifers their pro life beliefs are very much a function of their religious identity. A vast majorty of atheists are pro choice. It is a fact that the abortion issue is greatly impacted by Christian beliefs.

Not true. Sign me up for fully legal abortion. I’ll take it.

No you just made all that up. I’ve articulated at great lengths my rationale for the various positions, but you ignore what I say and post non sense like this.

At least you are honest about it.

I don’t think you can legislate morality. It has to come from somewhere else. I don’t entirely disagree with some degradation of morals, and how that could be problematic, but I think it is exaggerated and I don’t think government can step in legislate it.

The 15 week, with liberal exceptions, is not my favorite, but I’m willing to live with it because that is a model that is quite common worldwide and would likely be acceptable to a large percentage of Americans.

They should have just left it alone. I don't know who these republicans are, but they need to be shown the door. They are willing to do away with our democratic way of life for power. We are being bombarded with their totalitarianism actions. It's unreal.
By taking away women's rights they fought so hard for. Just paint a broad stroke absentmindedly. Makes sooooo much sense. Maybe we need to critique the wording of the second amendment. I mean if we are going to throw democracy down the drain, everyone needs to suffer.

Roe was "settled law" according to the bogus justices in their hearings. Liars. They should be impeached and kicked off the bench.

Well, that's one twisted way at looking at it. I am OK with restrictions because the big prize here is to have a women's right to make choices regarding her body the law in ALL 50 states (yep, every damn one of them.) To get that lofty goal accomplished, it will be necessary to compromise, a term you may not be entirely familiar with, in some states more than others. A significant majority of Americans favor the right, but there is disagreement on the particulars, so compromise is in order. Whether that is the Roe balancing test, viability or a stated number of weeks...whatever it takes to get it passed.

Don't worry, though. You still won't be forced to get one, you can carry your signs outside of the providers' clinics and you can condemn women exercising their rights to your damnation of the week.

Don't tell him Japan and Germany are now two of our staunchest allies, that will throw him for a complete loop.

Tightening the timeframe will increase out-of-wedlock births, single parent households with teen mothers and maybe shotgun marriages where that's still a thing. Stating the obvious there will also be a huge unregulated black market for abortion drugs.

    1. I’m pretty confident that it wouldn’t. Exhibit A: worldwide population explosion.

    2. That seems like a severe means/consequences to accomplish a goal of marginal merit.
