I don’t think it’s my business or the governments business. I support women and their professionals. I have typed this in four different ways.
Roe was and is good law compromised by a highly partisan set of judges in place due to political control of McConnell
There are some laws that expand freedoms. Others restrict freedoms. Republicans quite often for laws that restrict freedoms.
Now this is it. I think too much freedom will be our downfall. We are just quibbling over where the lines are drawn. I tend to believe in more authoritative measures than you do.
I am not a libertarian. I am ok with vaccine mandates and other interventions, if there is a clear precedent and it is for an evidenced based public good. But I generally don’t support morality and religious based / inspired laws.
Yes, the second Republicans took solid control of the Court the Court became partisan. Thank Harry Reid.
Saving the immunocompromised is the "public good." Saving the unborn is just "morality/religious based." Some lives are more equal than others.
I know this was a joke but the authoritarian nonsense being proposed and passed in some states makes this feel like it’s the truth.
I have said I can live with anything between a 15 week ban with liberal exceptions all the way to fully legal abortion. I’ve stated my preference is the viability construct. What I believe is best and what I think should be law aren’t necessarily the same thing. Any law should take into account personal freedoms, and what is the history and precedent on the particular issue. Going from viability to no abortion is radical change, a great reduction in personal freedoms and only supported by about 20% of the population.
