I really think you guys need to give equal time to “drag kings” in this discussion. What I think is odd is ….. it’s okay to dress up in some outrageous outfits and pretend to be another gender for the purpose of entertainment but one can’t pretend to be another race for entertainment purposes.
1. We have demonstrated over and over again the anti arbortionists are disproportionately Christian. 2. It’s not just abortion. It is drag queen shows, school books, etc etc. 3. You haven’t condoned arrest but others have. This train seems to keep going more extreme. You keep saying how you personally don’t support this, or perhaps support this or that exception, but the practical matter is when these laws go into effect that won’t incorporate your preferred nuances.
Yes exactly, in fact the laws are deliberately vague, whether its with the books, dont say gay, or anti-drag stuff. It basically allows selective and arbitrary enforcement that will absolutely fall on disfavored populations.
The fact is a 6 week abortion ban for all intents and purposes is a total abortion ban. It only gives you two weeks at most to have an abortion and most providers are going to shut down because there are much less potential abortions and the civil and criminal liability of providers makes it not worth the risk. Also we have seen exceptions and otherwise routine medical procedures avoided due to those same exposures. I think to many pro lifers the fact that these laws are practically stricter than they are written is a feature to them not a bug.
The way I understand the situation is that DeSantis is proposing to pull the liquor license of Hyatt Regency in Miami because the hotel hosted a sexually suggestive show with drag performers. Although the show was intended for an adult audience apparently some teens under the age of 18 accompanied by their parents attended the show, the reason why the Dear Leader of Florida wants to pull the establishment's license. As a point of information the hotel wasn't actually involved in the choice or production of the show and only acted as a caterer providing the space and food and drink. One question, would DeSantis be pulling his stunt if rather than a show with drag performers, the production was a sexually suggestive burlesque show with strippers or a wet t-shirt contest? My guess is that the answer would be in the negative. Rather than protecting minors as he claims Gov. Ron's real motive and it should be obvious is the use of the show as another prop in support of the religious right's war against drag.
For someone who says doesn’t support the things the republicans are forcing on us he certainly is working awfully hard defending those things.
They weren't always. It was a really long time ago, but someone somewhere down the line said "maybe we should outlaw murder and slavery."
Uh…….yeah……but what’s your point? You can’t legislate morality. The 6th and the 8th commandments are the only commandments that are against the law by the way.
It’s that that those on the right view attacking anything trans or trans like is a political winner. Kind of like gay marriage in 2004.
I SUPPORT Gov RON - Any womans bathing bikini that is not a two piece, but a one piece, should definately be banned, shunned and expelled from the state. Prison will do also.
We all vote for someone. But I have no idea how I will vote until all the pieces are in place. If I lived in South Carolina right now I wouldn't voted for the execution contingent for instance. There are many questions still to be answered for my vote. At this point in Trumps first term, I still thought I would vote for him again. A lot changed.
