Fudge is very athletic and an explosive leaper. I would be very careful about weight training him. It might backfire.
I'll be happy to give you a vacation if you earn it. Not sure what you're asking though . . . "Not giving a ratz ass" about something? There isn't anything wrong with that.
a long, athletic center would be just what the doctor ordered. That, and we could use a shooter or two. Oh, and a pg.
So basically Coach Golden and the staff will need to hit the road hard to get some talent in here to turn things around for next season.
As far as who to get from the portal- I just want guys who care. Who are so competitive that they want to win any game- which could be in November or even in the NIT or playing a nobody like FAU. Or wait- they are pretty good, but more importantly they actually care. We definitely didn't have that this year.
Aside from this last game, I don't think not caring was a problem at all for this team. It showed a lot of fight throughout the season imo.
He needs to be strong enough to shoot threes, something he likes to take and hardly ever finds the Net. I don’t know if I were a coach of the Gators would I even let him shoot a three. I winch at the tv everytime he is out front and throws up another clunker. I wonder if the other team is going to hit a three after rebounding the ball because our team is already running the other way, LOL. Another six point swing. We are the masters of giving the other team the lead and giving them more chances to build a big margin early. We need guys that are proven shooters. Fudge is a work in progress on all his threes, free throws and can dunk when he looks at the basket. One announcer in the NCAA said many times, you miss the first FT of two possible, that should be counted as a turnover. We have tried to claw back in many games and the team as a whole walks to the line and clunks another one, which Fudge was a leader in this poor shooting. At what point do you say, this isn’t working. I hope he gets better in his third college year but if I were in Vegas betting on him becoming a better shooter both threes and ft’s, I wouldn’t put any money on it. He and Kowacie are the leaders of the clunker brigrade! All I can say for Fudge is he is a work in progress and we can only hope they work on his basketball IQ because if he stays we need consistent, focused play to his strengths!
I mean, 12 points in the first half vs TAMU. A lethargic first half vs a very bad FSU team but also so many other bad first halves. And we came alive in the 2nd half- so it's not like these teams were head and shoulders better than us. (Like Bama was.) We just came out sleepy and disengaged. I'm glad we came back in the 2nd, but my goodness, let's play hard from the start. So if the NIT or so many games first halves = caring or hustle or grit or competitiveness to you or others... Well, we have different definitions. I'm hoping CTG finds guys who can play hard every time they put on the uni. From the first minute to the last.
Right now, I put Fudge in the category of “person playing basketball” as opposed to a “basketball player”. He’s got the physical tools and the potential, but his game needs to mature. I think his biggest need is much better handles and be able to get to the hoop in a good position to score. Like Kowacie, they both can get to the hoop, but they are often in a bad position or angle to get off a good shot, resulting in an off balance shot, a wild miss, or enabling a strong contest by the defender.
