This post is spot-on. If he had focused on his slashing and athleticism and playing defense and let the game come to him, he would have been much better. I wish him well wherever he goes, like others have said . . . unless they play Florida.
I had huge hopes for him, but I got tired of his play as the season went on. Just way too many quick 3’s that didn’t go in. Stats don’t lie, and stats had him as a 26% shooter, not a guy that should constantly be taking “heat check” shots. He also had way too much athleticism to settle for bad shots, if he picked his spots better he might be a 35% outside shooter and far more efficient overall. That’s what made it frustrating. Maybe Golden tried to get through to him and he wasn’t receptive, hard to know if it was a failure to coach him up or just a player not receptive to it. But with his focus on attention seeking hair styles, I have a guess lol.
We should remember KR sat a lot on the trip out west early on and many on here were brutal to Coach Golden for it. Looks like it was trying to send a message that never quite got through.
That would be a weird move being that he openly criticized White’s coaching and said it made him play too tight.
Reeves didn't meet expectations, but I think his leaving is a loss especially since no clue who we get to replace him. As for Lane, best of luck to him also, maybe he can catch on with a mid major somewhere.
I can see Reeves being successful elsewhere. We may or may not miss him. He played hard and tried hard, IMO. Best of luck to him and his entertaining hair.
this forum was pretty tame. Seen more disparaging comments elsewhere, actually. Wasn’t necessarily referring gatorcountry just overall what I’m seeing out there. I should have stated that in my comment. (Apologies)
He can be an energy guy off the bench , on a good day can put up some points in short order, good in the press. But he’s not a complete player who should get high major starter minutes.
Definitely frustrating to see him struggle like he did. Started out shooting it really, really well, but became more indecisive as time went by. Couldn't figure out if he wanted to shoot or drive, and ended up passing up good shots to take worse ones. IMO, that's exactly what happens when you are unsure of yourself. I think he just needs a place with low expectations where he can feel his way back into rhythm. Kid is super long and athletic and he has nice range and touch on his shot.
I really don’t think that was an issue. Now….the offense stagnating….with no adjustments from the bench…..hmmmm.
