You literally told a lie. You did it in plain sight. If you dont like people defending themselves perhaps dont pull crap out of your butt in an effort to score points.

What if Desantis watched the dance routines and found specific movements suggestive? By all means, round up the girls and their parents and toss them in jail right? I mean, morals, right? We have to draw a line somewhere.

You missed the point. He openly said I supported suggestive sexualized dancing by children. That was a lie.

Call that out and we'll talk.

If your kids were to perform those dance routines in public 120 years ago, would they have been considered immoral and sexually suggestive? Be honest.

I mean if ballet, classical, tap, interpretive etc was immoral than maybe? (Pretty sure they were not.) But that wasnt his statement. He posted a trashy pic of a child and said I supported it.

    Is that OK? Be honest?

Everyone ignores it. I was watching r rated movies as soon as I found out about it. Sex is everywhere best you can do is try to regulate what YOUR kids do or see and that will end in abject failure anyway if they leave the house

The fact that you got 5 "winner" ratings for your bald faced lie is mind numbing and makes me want to throw my phone through my office plate glass window.

    Yay team.

Look, I dont disagree. I also dont think its a smart societal move to just throw our hands up. Parents should at least have the information available to regulate THEIR kids though right?

What is the lie here? He didn't say you individually supported it, just that your culture did. I would presume that he is meaning Socially Conservative, White, Southern, Christian, etc. culture in that comment generally (all groups that you clearly identify with). It would seem that your claims against him (specifically, that he stated you individually supported those events) may have been a lie on your part.

Can we chill, with the acrimony, and get back to the correlation between beach bikinis and the surgical mutilation of children ?

Good lord man. That type of dancing is not part of my "culture".
    It's a lie.
    A generalization.
    Nonsense .

Most "white, southern, Christians" consider that stuff trashy. It is a minority niche occupied by failures living vicariously through their innocent kids.

Defending it is the epitome of "go team".

    You're better than that.

Did the original poster of those comments ever clarify to @tilly that he did not mean Tilly personally but only as a member of a perceived nebulous group?

At various times I’ve been in all of those circles that you mention, as well as other circles more like the ones I assume you are in, and I have never known anyone involved in child beauty pageants. I don’t even know what culture supports those.

I thought those things faded away after the JonBenét Ramsey case, but I guess they still exist.

It is a generalization. And it may be a minority within your cultural in-groups. But it doesn't mean that what he said was a lie. And your claims that he made an individual accusation are. If you expect accuracy from him, we should expect it from you as well. And you didn't provide that.

I haven’t even followed the full exchange between you two. The point is a lot of what is pretty run of the mill stuff in dance was once considered immoral, and would still be considered immoral in Sharia cultures and some fundamentalist cultures.

This notion among some of you think that whatever is your personal sense of morals is what the law should be is problematic. If you don’t like drag queen shows don’t go. I certainly wouldn’t. But I don’t need Ron Desantis and all of his moralistic cronies to be societies moral compass.

Absolutely outside of not letting them out of the house. I have friends who limit their kids tiktok to one hour (the app has parental controls now), doesn't mean they won’t see it else where and doesn’t mean they’re bad kids. Best a parent can do is offer structure shared values and open communication spoken as a non parent but have nieces and nephews

Okay, that is doubling down on lying on your part (I am sorry, but this appears to be purposefully missing context). What he said was "you culture warriors" and "your own culture." At no point did he say anything about "Tilly individually supporting those events." You just took offense and now are dug into it having been an individual put down.

The point appears to me to be that cultural in-groups for you appear to engage in questionable behavior themselves as long as they support their preferred version of gender norms and with no real move to ban or limit them the way cultural warriors appear to do when something inverts traditional gender roles.
