And I bet he told them he feels like he'll get better coaching in the NFL which will unlock his full potential.
I guess they prefer the warm underdog story like Trask or the rah rah type like Tebow. Anyway I appreciate all that he did in his time here and hope he has success at the next level.
You think Mullen having him recruit areas instead of players has nothing to do with it? Why do I care if our WR coach has previously recruited busts at positions other than WR
Yeah they were far better QBs. I'm sure that's the reason why fans fawn over them and don't seem to care for Richardson.
I don't think responsible territories is fundamentally flawed. There is much more of Mullen's system to blame. I see this as a push to upgrade for us, and it is the best situation for BG to succeed in recruiting with a head coach with receiver and qb background. We will find out if BG will ever have great recruits. We need to be hauling in a Jeudy or a Ruggs every now and then, and we aren't there yet. Until we are, at least we will have great developmental coaching.
Would you say Tebow and Trask bled Orange and Blue? They both played their bowl game. Tebow came back for his senior year when it definitely wasn’t necessary. Do you think Richardson was as dedicated as they were? Still, Richardson has always been a great kid. He’s always been good to the fans. Nobody hates him or anything like that, he just hasn’t done anything to really endear himself with fans. Diwun became a fan favorite through his struggle to become a gator. Pierce said it never entered his mind to skip the bowl and not be on the field with his brothers. It seems AR never considered being on the field for the bowl. His brothers got their asses handed to them . I get it, money and his future is too valuable to risk on a meaningless game but the lesser players still have to do it.
I love what he just said about the schemes he's going to run on defense. He said we will run a 4 man front on pass plays and 5 man front on run plays. You have to love that. I was begging the TV set to run more aggressive schemes on defense all last year. The TV let me down. We finally got a DC that understands how these Florida high school kids played defense all their lives, from Pop Warner on... they were born to run. That passive scheme we ran last year was dog-crap, and I think our new DC understands what he needs to do.
So what happens when Jeudy or Ruggs(lol) aren’t in our WR coach territory? We gonna send our LB coach (or whoever) to go recruit a WR when bama is sending their stud WR recruiter? Cmon
Lmao. So the worst thing that can happen is falls a bit in the draft to my favorite team. It’s comical
Is Holmon Wiggins really a stud? And for those that don't know, which is most people...that's Bama's WR coach. UF, just like Bama, will recruit as a team.....by territory, by position, by coordinator, by head coach.
will never forget his dad being mad we didn’t play the NIL game with his son last April. Hope young man gets it together
Not sure I understand your response to Wanne15 post, orangeblue. Are you being facetious? You seem to have a good grasp and knowledge of Gator sports, but the fact is most of of are pulling for AR for whatever reason. But it’s sure as Hell not for what he showed us on the field last year, however. Nor any great loyalty to the UF for investing the immeasurable resources of the University of Florida to develop him. I, for one, didn’t see much of a return on that investment. If the only reason we think AR was a great, good or even serviceable QB at UF is because he is a good guy, great physical specimen and didn’t embarrass us off field: Then we have really lowered the bar.
“Vanderbilt is different than Georgia” Haha I want to make a captain obvious joke but they both beat us so I’m not sure where to go with it
I think Tebow, Trask and AR all bled orange and blue. They all chose to bless the program with their athletic talents and I believe they all left it all out there on the field. Him not being in the bowl game didn't bother me, I understood the nature behind it and I'm sure his teammates do too.
Nah I'm serious, I can see why fans greatly admire Trask and Tebow but I think AR gave his all just like they did. He put on a great show for Gator nation every Saturday, I'm sure he wanted nothing more than to bring an SEC and national championship back to Gainesville but unfortunately that wasn't the case.
Fair enough. I don’t see it quite that way, but I’m okay with your view. It’s certainly not anti-Gator.
My thing is: how do we know what's in a player's heart? I can't in good conscious accuse someone of quitting or of not trying their best because for all I know, they're trying their best. I think the outcome of this season was lackluster and Richardson played a part in that, but he also played a part in why it was exciting at times. Now that he's gone, the machine goes on and I root for the next signal caller and hopefully for more wins than last season.
