Raping, pillaging, and plundering of Ukraine? Not our problem - stop poking the Bear, Joe.

Bump into my un-manned drone! Oh, it's on! Stop being such a wuss, Joe! Nuke their butts!

In times of war, however misspent the war, Murcans tend to rally ‘round the flag boys. I think it’s instructive that McCarthy wears a Ukraine lapel pin.

Yep and honestly, I’m not sure why we would expect them to allow one of our drones to fly freely in that area. Our tradecraft was detected and the Russians called our bluff. It is what it is.

This is one area where Republicans are truly divided and bipolar on. Some think we should do more, and others think we should disengage. Whatever the case whatever Biden is doing is wrong.

Agreed and I'm sorry I pointed it out. Partisanship over an issue like this just blows my mind. But I prefer this thread to focus on the conflict and hopeful resolutions.

Except that the Republicans that want to disengage, from Ukraine, want to go to war against China.

I’d like to think that both parties are ahead of their constituents, in terms of war lust. But consider this thread.

    The Unhinging of America.

    C-SPAN Video (29:45)
Defense Secretary Austin and Joint Chiefs Chair Milley Hold News Conference
Defense Secretary Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Milley held a news conference following a Russian jet colliding with a U.S. drone over the Black Sea. “I just got off the phone with my Russian counterpart, Minister Shoigu. As I’ve said repeatedly, it’s important that great powers be models of transparency and communication,” said Defense Secretary Austin. He, along with Gen. Milley, stressed the U.S. would continue to fly and operate wherever international law allowed.

The question answer period portrays a different story than what has been reported in the news media.
    • Video is still being reviewed but Gen. Milley says there is no confirmation of a collision. No indication on when if ever the video will be released.
    • The story is the drone broke up and is most likely not recoverable. That depends on where exactly the drone went down in the Black Sea. The claim is we know where but that information is not forth coming. None the less if we know so do the Russians.
    • The drone was not shot down yet claims are Russian jets dumped fuel on the drone. Potentially the video if released will confirm this. My question is why dump fuel which is necessary for flight operations?
    • Admittedly this was an intelligence gathering mission. The claim is nothing on the drone would be salvageable if it is retrieved.
    • Secretary Austin is talking with his Russian counterpart but will not reveal what the conversation entailed. Lines of communication remain open. Gen. Milley has a scheduled talk with his Russian counterpart which is yet to occur.

All reports indicate a collision. There you go again with the disinformation campaign to support the russian position

UPDATED: U.S. MQ-9 Drone Crashes in Black Sea After Collision with Russian Fighter; Recovery Options Unclear - USNI News
At 7:30 a.m. CET, one of the Russian planes hit the MQ-9’s propeller, according to EUCOM. U.S. forces then opted to bring the unmanned aerial vehicle down in international waters, although the release does not specify if those waters were the Black Sea
Our MQ-9 aircraft was conducting routine operations in international
airspace when it was intercepted and hit by a Russian aircraft, resulting in
a crash and complete loss of the MQ-9,” U.S. Air Force Gen. James B.
Hecker, commander, U.S. Air Forces Europe and Air Forces Africa, said in the release. “In fact,
this unsafe and unprofessional act by the Russians nearly caused both
    aircraft to crash.”

Obviously you didn't listen to the statements given by Defense Secretary Austin or or chairman chief of staff Gen. Milley.

What's known and not about US drone-Russian jet encounter

U.S. and Russian officials had conflicting accounts of the collision Tuesday between the MQ-9 Reaper drone and the Russian Su-27 fighter jet; each side blamed the other. A Pentagon spokesman raised the possibility that the Defense Department could eventually declassify and release video it has of the collision.

The Pentagon and U.S. European Command said that two Russian Su-27 aircraft dumped fuel on the MQ-9, which was conducting a routine surveillance mission over the Black Sea in international airspace. They said the Russian jets flew around and in front of the drone several times for 30 to 40 minutes, and then one of the Russian aircraft “struck the propeller of the MQ-9, causing U.S. forces to have to bring the MQ-9 down in international waters.”

Your own article uses the word colliding.

Right. Because if Russia flew an espionage drone into the Gulf of Mexico, just 25 miles off the coast of Florida or Texas, we'd be totally good with that. International waters.. I wonder why they haven't thought of that already. Hmmmmm.

Hate to break it to you, but Russian and before that soviet aircraft have teased the edges of our airspace for decades. Keep your day job.

Not a espionage drone 25 miles off the coast, but what about an espionage ship 30 miles off the coast?

    From 2017:

A Russian spy ship patrolled 30 miles offshore a U.S. Navy submarine base in Connecticut on Wednesday in what that state's congressman called an effort to test the resolve of the new Trump administration.

We better hurry up and find that drone on the sea floor.

The Russians have a clear advantage in finding it first, with their Black Sea fleet on the bottom already.

I get a kick out of your posts because they contain show zero knowledge about military ops and what our military knows and doesn’t know about any given situation (to be fair there’s plenty they don’t share but it’s obvious they are very well informed before they speak).

“My question is why dump fuel which is necessary for flight operations?”

    LOL
