Well it sure as hell ain't left-wing culture, and I've never seen any of the right-wing culture warriors you're such a fan of go after it the way they go after drag queens and trans people.
It's actually far worse. Kids at drag queen shows is mostly a made-up right-wing issue. Child beauty pageants are literally child abuse.
I think they had a deficit the year before. Ironically the surplus largely came on the back of the federal covid relief. And also rising home prices, which Florida can’t afford. The average home price is somewhere north of six times median income now. With rising rates, that means a solid majority can’t afford to buy a home in the state. But he spends his time on drag shows….the important stuff.
The difference being that you find that sort of drag entertainment amusing or acceptable? It must suck to have liberals point out how ridiculous your beliefs are.
I think DeSantis sees himself as the champion for fighting corporate wokeism that has gotten way out of control, but revoking a liquor license at the Miami Hyatt? Gotta know how to pick your battles.
Other than ramping up the animosity between people on the left and people on the right, what is being gained by all the ugly trash talking going on between some of you? It only makes things worse, more difficult to find level ground for constructive conversation. I know as I was targeted by a radical right wing Christian on this board when I first started posting here 22 years ago, when he twisted my words to make a vile and untruthful insinuation against my character. I was so stunned by it I did not know how to react. Other posters reported him and he was permanently banned, though he returned a few months later under another username. It started with someone posting 'babies are not born gay.' I posted I had heard and read enough spoken and written by Gay people to think that was an inaccurate statement. Several lesbians I had spoken with at a social gathering a few months before told me they recognized their attraction to those of their own sex from early childhood. They said the difficulty in hiding it from judgmental people would be enough to discourage anyone from feigning same sex attraction. I posted of this encounter, ending it with yes, I thought it was possible for people to be 'born gay.' The person to whom I was directing my response then reacted in another post saying parents should not allow me to be around their children, an evil insinuation that shocked and stung even though his insinuation had no factual basis.
this is ok with the Christian folk, because it is heterosexual in nature and part of good ole Patriarchy, even if actual grooming is involved..
Ron really fighting the big issues of the day. Not focusing on bread and butter issues, issues of substance that have an impact on making citizens lives better, but culture war issues actually harming no one. Continually punching down and aimed at minority groups. He and his supporters are continually showing their bigotry by who they choose to focus on and who they don’t.
Great point... is it illegal to have a KKK meeting? Trying to think of an establishment that has lost its liquor license from hosting one of the proud boys or other nationalist meetings like the kkk. I wouldnt be alright with it to directly answer your question but I would not expect the federal or state government to bar you from parenting your beliefs, that's society's job to pressure what is acceptable but not the law's job. Heck, if you join Westboro and protest drag shows.. .thats your right. Using the liquor license office to punish people for your beliefs... aint your right.
In a state with a balanced budget amendment that’s not good lol, that means we aren’t spending enough given all the problems here.
The thing is this stuff plays with the rubes but they are 80/20 against issues with the functioning brainstem citizens.
