I don't go to drag shows. It doesn't interest me. I wouldn't bring my kids to one. But my personal tastes don't dictate how other parents raise their kids. Should my thoughts on Biblical doctrine dictate how you raise your kids? It is free speech, correct. That it's artistic expression? Yes. If choosing not to ban artistic expression that features no nudity and allowing parents the freedom to raise their kids is a "slippery slope," I'm fine with that.

The whole point of the OP was comparing kids seeing girls at the beach in bikinis to kids going to a drag queen show. He would have had a more legitimate point if girls at the beach in bikinis walked around making sexual gestures but they don't. His sole point was to trash talk DeSantis and in doing so legitimize Drag shows for children. If he wants his children along with everybody elses to be able to go to drag shows Florida is not the place for him. Maldives might be a better place for him to live if they would allow that.

In education, the DeSantis approach would be labeled punitive. Many claim him to be smart and if true, he realizes that additive measures are ultimately more effective than punitive. So why does he approach issues this way? A: Because he knows it will gain favor with a particular subset of voters. Not every broken law deserves a draconian punishment.

You're not asking the right question. The question you should ask is, "Are you honestly okay with other parents choosing to let their children attend a show that includes fake genitalia and simulated masturbation?" (And I'm assuming what you're saying is accurate.)
I have taken shots at RD for some of this crap but a large hotel that allows this under the current laws only have themselves to blame. FWIW, your point is why I dont take part in boycotts. They hurt the single mom more than the CEO.

Not particularly. Of course, I don't know how overt or detailed it was. Do you? we make people put their kids in car seats and wear bike helmets because all it takes is one quick accident to destroy the child's life. I doubt that simulated masturbation does anything close to that. But, again, the key word I was talking about is freedom. DeSantis claims to be a champion of freedom as well as parents' rights. His action in this case is the opposite of freedom and parental rights. Are you really going to dispute that?
How many small kids attended? Were they with their parents? Was there a parental notice given about the nature of the show? How do you feel about twerking contests, beauty pageants featuring bikinis, dance competetions full of suggestive dance routines, internet access to anything not G rated?

Doesnt matter how many attended. "With their parents" is not an automatic qualifier for many things already. Especially sexually explicit things. Reports were that they were not warned. I havent said anything about bikinis, pageants or dance contests. No fake genitalia and masturbation occurs at those. If it does than, yeah... I feel it should be banned for minor children.
