Just signed a 4 year 80 million dollar contract with the Chiefs. 60 million guaranteed. Kansas City Chiefs signing OT Jawaan Taylor to four-year, $80 million contract
Great for him. This may seem like a lot for him but Andy Reid is the best OL head coach of all time so if he approves of this, he must think he can take Taylor to the next level.
I gues that’s why so many are flabbergasted when they hear a college kid is making a mil or two. I don’t keep up any more but the salary cap in the nfl is quite large. There has to be a comparable ratio as to what that would amount to in college comparing apples to apples. Funny thing is, the schools are leaning on the fans to pay that too. We already pay the tickets, generate their tv money, and all the jersey sales and whatnot. It’s a crazy business model for sure.
The salary cap is set at 224.8 million for 2023. Which seems large. But, teams are worth Billions of dollars. The Denver Broncos just sold for a record 4.65 billion. So a 224 million dollar salary cap is small.
It’s supposedly 51% of projected revenue so they are just throwing at a wall and seeing what sticks. Colleges have a number while smaller is also a very significant number. If Taylor is worth 20 as an established nfl player, what was he worth his last year at UF? How about as a freshman? He would be unproven and being paid on “potential“ at that point.
He probably thinks "If this guy's performance matches his contract, he'll make me look very good as a coach"
5 million a year, 20 million a year, what's the difference? It's all more than I've made in my life time.
Of course it is. He is a premier lineman protecting maybe the best qb in history. He’s at tge pinnacle of all linemen right now. We just sent his twin to next years draft too.
