This is bs. Already ordered tix (which may not get due to the vandyesque stadium but could still buy) made flights, hotels, car, scheduled vacation. Kinda like the Miami game date switch but UF had control over that and chose to screw the fans (no surprise).
Where do we send our bills for cancelled reservations? This game was earmarked for 3 years and they just blew it up for UF fans travelling. Absolute BS that the administration would sign a game contract allowing this. We'd be better off just buying out the game and scheduling a cupcake at home for a tune up game than these "marquis" games that end up getting scheduled on weeknights.
My concern (s) there are a few. Getting a QB up to speed. Developing some consistency on offense. The altitude will be somewhat of a factor. To acclimate, the team should be there at least a few days before game-time. Thursday game. (Get there Monday-don't nee no stinkin school classes that week!) A win in Utah would be massively huge and set a nice tone. When I ski (kind of used to it now) but it really takes three days to get acclimated- that's 9-11,000 ft. Now I'm fine after one day but I'm also not in the trenches fighting 350 lb people. Figure Salt Lake is roughly 4200 feet above sea-level. About 1000 ft less than Denver. Definitely can get light-headed. Hope they get there early!! Never too early to start the chant!! Go Gators-beat Utah!
Cam Rising unfortunately hurt his knee in the Rose Bowl game. They’re not saying much about the details except that it will require extensive rehab. I hope he’ll be okay and good to go for game 1. The TribUte newsletter: Is Utah football about to have a QB problem?
Complete crap! Sucks for all the UF fans who had planned on making the trip. Now it makes it a hell of a lot more difficult. Not sure I want this game to be seen in the National Spotlight either.
Thursday night, makes little sense, smh. Florida’s season-opener vs. Utah moves to weeknight broadcast
It's the first game of the season on the road... It doesn't matter what F'n day it's on. If anything it gives extra time Between G1 & G2, which is a good thing. I tell ya, the ignorant bellyaching about nonsense by some Gator fans is pretty telling. Chris Doering knew what he was talking about.
I don’t know Donzo. I’m not a fan of Thursday night games either. Football just seems better and more natural on Saturdays. Don’t think carping about having to play on Thursday is what Doering was talking about. I think he was referring to negative comments about our team and coaches and I agree with him there. I guess playing on Thursday does give us a couple of extra days to prepare for mighty McNeese State.
This will be a tough game. Brilliant move by Utah to move the date and hamper Gator travelers. I think much of their team from last year is returning. A third of ours has moved on.
If you were planning on going to the game, it makes a big difference. Maybe you job doesn’t care but most folks have to work it out and Saturday is way easier for most.
I’d guess tv and money had the game moved. Our fans wouldn’t be in huge numbers anyway but I’m sure there will be less of us on a Thursday night
The Gators should stay up in the mountains, Park City I think is around 6500 foot elevation where Salt lake city is more like 4200 foot elevation. Practice up there and then come down for the game. I'm sure the coaches will check the boards for insight. Winning this game would be huge. Go Gators.
Well at least I can enjoy all of Labor Day weekend without having to worry about gametime on Saturday.
I had a bad feeling about the possibility of a Thursday night game. I fortunately took the whole week off. Just means less days for Vegas/national parks before the game. Less Vegas is probably a good thing. Going to be a tough first game but better than a cupcake opener. Go Gators!
