6-1 after 3. Wallace and Echols with HRs.

Rutgers got a run without a hit.

Kistler with a great catch in LF, robbing the batter of a HR.

Kistler makes another great catch in the outfield. Delbrey rolling along in the 4th.

Delbrey is looking great so far this year. Especially with the control.

Langley has shown to have a strong arm behind the plate, but Wilkie has experience back, is solid as well and simply is a better hitter. I think she'll slowly take over that position. Egan had an excellent 2 games and eabred more looks. But Pollard is a star in the making and will continue to get better - and she is still hitting .316 with a bunch of extra base hits. Good to see Goelz have a great game. 2-3 with 3 RBI. Got her batting average back above .400.

Natural for true freshmen, but Pollard and Gigante have struggled against good pitching. Need to get Roe back in the groove so we have more options. Egan is intriguing because she also runs well, kind of surprised she hadn't gotten more work before now

Agreed, although I'm not sure I'd call Longley's arm strong. I miss the "easily throw from the knees" days of Aubrey Monroe. Seems like Longley is also a half beat slower in making decisions. Wilke's slugging percentage is way higher the Longley (.759 vs .529). But putting batting averages aside, it seems like Wilkie is much better in clutch hitting situations.

Everyone has said that without lights out pitching this year, we're gonna need timely hitting. My vote is with Wilkie.

Kyle Crooks said today that Egan really struggled in the fall adjusting to the increased level of competition and is just now catching on. Like her energy. For being rated the #2 recruit in the country coming out of high school early last year, Roe has been good but not great. This is her 2nd year and she can't seem to earn a home. Walsh has pretty much taken over 2nd base and even though Roe split catching duties last year with Wilkie, Walton now seems to have decided Wilkie and Langley are going to handle that spot. And at DH he seems to like Gigante's power potential. We'll see how that shakes out when they start their SEC schedule, plus play FSU a couple of times.
