I watched the replay of the beam and floor from the OU at Mich meet on Monday night. OU traveled to Mich and fought like hades to win the meet eventually losing it on the beam with Mich nailing the floor. It was #1 vs. #2 and both teams fought for the win. OU lost by .1, but they fought all the way on 3 days rest. It would have been refreshing to see UF fight like that at OU last Friday rather than rest gymnasts and send the it's okay to lose signal on the floor which I think impacted our beam scores as well. You have #1 vs.#2 or #3 and you put your best out there and fight like hades to win the meet. I think ESPN was disappointed as well as Kathy Johnson commented on Jenny Roland's decision to rest the gymnasts.
Gymcastic's Podcast this week is titled: To Rest or Not to Rest . Take a guess on who they are talking about?
After 3 rotations: Team VT UB BB FX TOTAL Florida X 49.475 49.600 49.600 148.675 Washington 49.175 X 49.300 49.025 147.500 North Carolina St 48.900 49.225 X 49.300 147.425 Texas Women's 49.075 48.775 48.700 X 146.550
Florida scores 198.175 VT UB BB FX 49.500 49.475 49.600 49.600 NQS Update There's a conundrum! (4) UCLA and (13) Denver are in the same bracket. There's 1 more week to go. Rank Team NQS 1. Oklahoma 198.300 2. Michigan 198.045 3. Florida 198.015 4. UCLA 197.940 5. Utah 197.845 6. LSU 197.780 7. California 197.665 8. Kentucky 197.630 9. Michigan State 197.575 10. Alabama 197.560 11. Oregon State 197.490 12. Auburn 197.480 13. Denver 197.445 14. Arizona State 197.105 15. Ohio State 197.055 16. Arkansas 197.050
Quick math, we are locked into 2 3 or 4 on NQS. To pass Michigan, we would need a 198 flat at SECs, assuming they don’t improve. UCLA would need a 198.2 to pass us at Pac 12s if we didn’t improve. Third or fourth now is likely a trip to Denver.
All top 5 teams are at conference championships next weekend. Michigan's score to drop is 197.825 Florida's score to drop is 197.875 Utah's lowest score is 197.875 UCLA's lowest score is 197.850 So Michigan has the highest potential NQS score. Florida is very close behind.
With such a large lead, the Sooners will get every benefit of the doubt in a close meet. I agree, the national championship is theirs to lose, but it has happened before. The Sooners aren't unbeatable. I think they are a bit shaky on the beam and some on the floor. The judging will be much more of a concern for the Sooners in the championships as more judges are involved.
Michigan is 198.045 198.000 at SECs will lift our NQS to 198.040 198.050 at SECs will lift our NQS to 198.050 198.100 at SECs will lift our NQS to 198.060
If nothing changes after next week, 1 way to solve the UCLA/Denver issue would be by location: send #12 Auburn to Pittsburg and #11 Oregon St or #14 Arizona St to Denver and UCLA.
Conference Championships = 4 Judges National Championships = 6 Judges Is this not correct? Still OU has earned the subjective benefit of the doubt that goes with the gymnastics sport.
Man, that was probably the worst $10 purchase I've ever made. - Screen was very dark for bars...could barely tell who was performing. And the camera controls showed on the screen. - On beam, there were people standing in front of the camera. Also we could not see most of the dismounts. Multiple times the screen froze and went black. Horrible. - Floor was OK if you had a magnifying glass. We saw all the routines, but even shared to a 65 inch screen, the performers were tiny. - For vault, we had probably the worst possible angle. Much of the runway was looking over the floor and the vaults were obstructed and it was pretty much impossible to see landings. The production was bad even if it were free, but to have to pay for that was ridiculous.
For SECs and regionals, four judges will judge each event during the competition with the highest and lowest scores thrown out and the middle two averaged for the final score. One alternate judge with a minimum level 10 rating will be selected and assigned by the Women’s Gymnastics. For nationals, six judges will judge each event. The highest and lowest score will be dropped and the four scores in the middle will be averaged. One alternate judge with a minimum level 10 rating will be selected and assigned by the Women’s Gymnastics Committee for the nationals.

I had set up a Texas Women's account and had my credit card in my hand when I get a phone call from my mom (t was my birthday). Then another phone call, and another...Then I see a tweet by D. Sam, PhD posting a screen shot of the meet and how bad the lighting and camera angles were...
Yeah, it was so bad. I complained to Hudl sports on twitter and they gave me a refund. They said they just broadcast events. It's up to the individual schools to produce it. Obviously, TWU has very little experience broadcasting events.
