Did your ilk not spend the entire year of 2020 crying about BLM protests and the "Summer of Love" and the right's boogeyman Antifa causing a ruckus? Only to now turn around and minimize and defend the actions of the MAGA patriots on January 6th? Yes or no?

This was pretty helpful actually. My friends and I were just laughing at dinner over this Jan 6th idiot who got a heavier sentence because he chose to spout off a bunch of conspiracy theories to the judge instead of just saying he was sorry. You might like the last quoted paragraph where jury and judge weren't buying the entrapment excuse.

Pensacola man gets 5 years in prison for attacking cops on Jan. 6 | wusa9.com

In a conspiracy-laden rant prior to hearing McFadden’s ruling, Stevens made baseless claims about Dr. Anthony Fauci launching a “bioweapon” against the United States and a Chinese-backed shadow government running the country. He also repeatedly described Jan. 6 as an “entrapment operation” by the federal government to, he claimed, cover up the fraudulent 2020 presidential election. Stevens did briefly address the officers he was convicted of assaulting – although he failed to pronounce Gonell’s name correctly.

“Any American of good conscience should be outraged by your treatment of these officers,” McFadden told him. “But for the valiant efforts of [Gonell] and other officers like him, I think he’s right that the vice president and members of Congress could have been seriously hurt.”

McFadden also told Stevens his speech in court lacked remorse and contained “pretty shocking statements” that made him concerned about his willingness to follow the law.

“It’s ridiculous to suggest there was some kind of entrapment that caused you to do what you did,” McFadden said. “You battled those officers. You chose to do what you did.”

Righty spin: "Those cops were tour guides, ready to give innocent patriots a tour of the Capitol building. Don't you see the warm, friendly, inviting look in their eyes?"

Righty spin: "This patriot saw a large bug on the window, so he grabbed the nearest thing he could find and tried to crush it."

Righty spin: "The Capitol police tour guides told the patriots they had cookies and juice set up inside, the only caveat was you had to climb through the window to get some"

No, I don't find your explanation in this detailed scenario palatable or satisfactory. People dining in a restaurant tend to engage in conversations that set the stage for a pleasant dining experience. They are highly unlikely to discuss an unpleasant incident in a restaurant setting. Unpleasant topics are to be avoided as they cast a dismal atmosphere over what should be a pleasant social interlude. And they don't aid digestion.

Do you dine at Jamaican vegan jerk restaurants? Do you eat goat from such places?

Irony Level Supermax way to start a smartass “rebuttal” post with some sort of whoknows grammar lesson:

“Well, first, when a sentence is ended with question mark, that sentence is a question?”

The police did not welcome him into the building. He went through the door right next to people smashing through windows at the exact same time. There were no police at that door. I follow it with the judge's statement to his claim.

LOL, I’m not at all surprised you and your buddies waste time discussing this matter as your hysteria is just another partisan political contagion similar to the TDS from which so many who share your beliefs suffer. I think most folks know you guys are obsessed with this Jan 6th demonstration and police escorted Capital incursion.

BTW, I’m not at all concerned with how you find my explanation, really. I was just trying to Nell ol’ river.

Now wait a minute. Why does this thread even exist? It is because liberals are obsessed with the 'demonstration and police escorted incursion'?
Not even close. It was started by a conservative because Tucker Carlson, a man not exactly known his honesty or accuracy, went through 10s of thousands of hours of video tape and presented a few minutes of calm, well-mannered behavior by those who entered the Capitol.
And when he released the obviously misleading segment, a bunch of conservatives here jumped right in line and said "Yes, that proves what we've said all along. It was no big deal!"
And then ... and then ... after starting a thread about, after falling in line with Carlson ... we have conservatives complaining that it's liberals who are obsessed with Jan. 6 and who are partisan.

The longer this thread goes on the worse conservatives look. Honestly if you just said - yeah that was bad and it shouldn’t happen again - the conversation would be over.

Absolutely. As soon as Kevin McCarthy provided Tucker Carlson with the 40,000 plus pages of testimony along with the videotape from the House Committee investigating January 6th it was only a matter of time before Carlson and his staff would release the minuscule fraction of the total corroborating the right-wing narrative that insurgents were simple tourists welcomed into the Capitol by the police. In fact, I strongly suspect that one of the conditions imposed on McCarthy by the Crazy Caucus in exchange for their support for the Speakership was the requirement that Kevin provide Carlson with the documentation.

That is a good angle. Let's see if there is a response, but that angle shows every element of the entry. People break the window, multiple people climb through, and then some of them kick the open door, which is when Chansley enters. He clearly lied. Let's see if the people that raised this issue have the guts to come back and admit that he clearly lied (as also found by the judge). I doubt it because doing so doesn't help them deal with the cognitive dissonance.

I also want to add that Jan 6th was starting to fade from the national discourse until tucker got that footage and spun his lies.

This is just a weird take. You think that the selected video showed by Tucker Carlson exonerates this guy? I'm being serious. Yes, or no? As for proof, the wanna be viking pleaded guilty to obstructing an official proceeding before Congress. That was a deal he struck, so he wouldn't get popped for the other charges. And yes, there's video showing him doing some of the things he's charged with.

Oh, I thought that already even before you edited your post and added the last sentence. You made that clear in your nonsensical choice of a Jamaican vegan jerk chicken restaurant. Then when asked if you ate the jerk goat you replied you don't, but insinuated I did. That confirmed my thoughts on why your dining scenario featured that type restaurant and menu selection. But then, you're not concerned with what I think of your explanation. You were "just trying to Nell(?) ol' River."

. Too bad you hate democracy so much that you minimize what happened that day. There were armed malaria groups in hotels in Virginia waiting for the call to come to the Capital. They were never called. Not to mention the Violent entry— the bearing of police protecting the capital. The militia groups in military garb who enter weed with Cuff ties. The use of animal prays. Forcing a session of Congress to stop the process of certifying the election— which was their goal. And those who expressed their intent to capture and kill members of Congress to accomplish their goal of stopping the peaceful transition of power. Your efforts- and those of others— to minimize what took place that day reflect time of two things. You live on a reality that doesn’t exist. Or your disappointment it didn’t succeed.
