This is news...to me. https://www.si.com/college/florida/...a-panthers-trade-nfl-draft-anthony-richardson
No disrespect but you don’t trade to number 1 for Anthony Richardson. I think he’s got a great upside, but you could have gotten him probably at 4.. lol at the Panthers.
I'm not felling disrespected, I didn't make the trade, nor did I write the article. Just passing some interesting perspectives on these boards. I've been reading a ton about all this, several people are saying that the OSU QB is not the kind of QB that can bring back a team. He's not the superstar everyone in the media is making him out to be. But that could just be haters from other schools, or people that want another QB to get drafted to the Carolina Panthers. Most of the Twitter clowns want Bama's QB, but I don;the can stay healthy on the team without the best O-line if the NFL. And I really do NOT know about the Panthers O-line. Bama's QB is 5"10" tall and he is injury prone as well, so... Just for fun though, are you coming back to this thread if the Panthers do select AR as the 1rst overall pick? Now that would be news.
Good move by Bears. Need to make picks work but Cowboys would not have become relevant if they held into Herschel Walker. Picks they received helped them win multiple Super Bowls. Not confident Bears front office can draft well with picks

If AR is selected at number 1 then the Panthers are stupid. Trade down and then draft him. Then sign Sam Darnold for 2 years as AR is definitely not ready on day 1. I think Stroud will be the pick..
This thread on Bullgator Den supports your skepticism. https://www.gatorcountry.com/swampg...interest-in-b-mayfield-and-j-brissett.574129/
Mayfield and Brissett are proven placeholders. I’d think they are the daft valves, not their hope of finding a legit starter.
I think he could be successful but I haven't seen a lot of coverage the past couple of seasons that would suggest he will get a fair shot. If that was the thinking he would have played a larger role in the pre-season games last year. Being in Tampa, I don't get the sense that the team (including GM's) have a great deal of confidence in him and are always looking for something better rather than give him the coaching reps and resources to go all in on the guy. Would love to be wrong.
If they don’t give him a good long look next year, they are idiots for drafting him in the first place. We didn’t think he would throw 45 tds either. What could they possibly gain by starting Brisset or Mayfield.
Because he's not the sexy pick. My opinion is they don't know what they have since in all the pre-season games (his first year and last year) they never gave him more than two or three series to see what he could do, and when they did there was a lot of running plays. There were a few pass plays that he looked great on but then they change up the play calling to get him out of rhythm.
True, but they said "that finished their careers with Florida" We seem to have more players that transferred out to have careers in the NFL than those that stayed.
