Rylee and Delbrey both recruited as top pitching prospects....Rylee just hasn't quite developed as expected, IMO that's the biggest kink in the pitching chain
It's not like she was hit hard today, just no control and a couple of bloopers and well placed bunts did the damage.
She was 2nd team All-American in 2021. But that was 2 years ago and arm/shoulder/health (whatever they were) issues ago. She's lost some velocity and other teams have seen enough film to know how to approach her. Happens a lot for 4th & 5th year pitchers in the SEC.
When Rylee has her drop ball working, she can be very effective. And there's less film on her and batters haven't faced her as much as they have Hightower. I personally think Rylee has to step up and be a co-#2 with EH if we are to have the success we all hope for. That and Delbrey has to get fully recovered and regain her stamina and power.
Agreed, I’m not sure I have a lot of faith in Rylee. Delbrey on the other hand I’ve high expectations for once her health/stamina is back. Imagine the rotation next season with a veteran Delbrey and two new star pitching recruits! It’ll be a wealth of riches again like the old glory days!
With Jen Rocha(best pitching coach in country) no matter how talented a pitcher was coming in they always developed and got even better by the time they graduated. Losing Rocha hurt.
Jen Rocha didn’t even leave for a head coaching job like Kenny did, never understood that. Oklahoma already good enough, they don’t need the best pitching coach on top of everything else lol.
Technically, that was 20 minutes ago. Went to the car for dinner between games, walking back could see the baseball scoreboard say GAME DELAYED DUE TO WEATHER, so I assume that's softball also. Not a drop of rain here so must be lightning nearby. If anyone hears an update on start time, please post.
Rocha is an OU alum. Also, OU is a shorter distance to HC if she wants that as Grasso is 10 years older than Walton, 60 I believe.
So she waits 15 years rather than 20 lol. Patty not leaving anytime soon and I’m sure there’s plenty of top programs that would love to have Jen Rocha right now. But yeah she’s OU alumni so maybe it’s just home and family is there. She would make a great head coach if she want it.
Im sure you are correct as to other opportunities, but maybe she just likes OU. Btw, 60-50 = 10, not 5
Math has never been a strength of mine lmao, I honestly didn’t know patty’s age or Walton’s either, I just figured neither is going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe Patty gets tired of all the hardware and retires sooner lol.
