Well, then as I said above he needs to be more clear. When you’re vague about other parties sharing fault, then I get to decide who those other parties are. If you are correct in your interpretation, then the Pope would be arguing that the slaver shares blame for his violent repression with those who encouraged the slave to resist. And if that is the Pope’s position, then, yes, he should be too embarrassed to state it clearly.

It will take them years to reverse engineer it, design the parts they need to build it, test it, build a facility to manufacture it at scale, and then get it somewhere it’s needed. By then we will have the next weapon ready.

This particular video showed a goodly percentage of interviewees openly signaling their disapproval of the war. I’m guessing they were all later rounded up and sent to the salt mines.

From the slaver’s perspective, he is being stolen from as surely as if money has been taken from his wallet or as if a group of people moved into his home uninvited and without his consent. That makes the people who encourage the slave to revolt (and the slave himself) thieves in a very real sense to the slaver. And while I do understand the slaver’s sense of loss, there’s only so much empathy I’m willing to expend and only so much I’m willing to discuss compensation in the interest of peace. And after the slaver has resorted to violence, right in front of me, even that limited amount of understanding is off the table.
