this was shot about 3 weeks ago when dez said he was at 385… there is no way possible for him to put on 65 lbs in 3 weeks.

I love this interview with Big Bez, He appears to very likable.
I can see why and how he as become very popular with his teammates.
I agree that the reports/rumors of him weighing in at 450 are BS.
It will be fun watching him grow as a football player and as a young man.

I hope that's true, but I don't think so... There's some video out there now and from what I'm told he looks the same.

Yep, that's what I'm hearing, too... I'm getting Inside the Gators' video with Watson from yesterday's practice. I'll post it.

    Watson at 15 seconds.

If he lost weight it doesn't show.

Was hoping Des and Jackson could line up together.
Some 3 down lineman fronts would be interesting, still could have +1,000lbs with just 3 players.

If he can't keep his weight down with a professional staff monitoring him, it's going to get much worse when he is done with football. People 400+ lbs don't typically have long lives. Forget about playing time, he needs to start focusing on his health to keep from dying young.

CBN seems to really like "Big-Boys" on the offensive and defensive lines. UF must be setting "size and weight" records, at least for UF.
Gee, a kid 6'-5" and 325 is almost "small" for coach.

Actually looks like he could be bigger.

On the plus side - Mitchell, Wilson and Perkins look eraser sized at safety. Wilson looks like he could play LB.

Looks like Big Des is making the effort to get his weight down and understands that it is continuous journey. I hope he can get it under control not only for playing sake but for his overall health. Everyone marvels how nimble he is. I wonder if on short yardage downs, i.e. <= 1 yard, he could line up at center and let his size and nimbleness move the pile forward for the first down.

I’d like to see him slim down to improve his play, but I worry about this kid’s health. I don’t know if it’s ever been done, or how it would affect his football career, but I wonder if he’s a candidate for bariatric surgery? While there’s a host of problems that come from the procedure (anemia, malnutrition, risk of of obstruction) and in the short term likely result in hurting his strength, it may help his health and career in the long run.

You are right, my brother, Big Des needs to probably be much more concerned with the long term effects of being this heavy than the short term concern of playing time and and a few bucks from the NFL.

Moreover, UF has to be always wary of how hard Big Des is pushed in practice and in games. 450 plus pounds is no joke on the heart, regardless of age.

There are products that are not as extreme as surgery that have been shown to be effective for weight loss. The latest being tirzepatide.

I had a roommate one time who lost 100 pounds in a year.

He also put on 95 pounds that same year.

Unfortunately for Dez, the less we see of him means the better we are on the d line. You just can’t move like you need to at this level when you weigh 450 lbs.

He looked about the same size last night. But I'll bet he's stronger and building stamina.

He is an absolute beast and miraculous to be able to play as hard and as long as he does.

I had to laugh out loud when one of the announcers last night started talking about "once Desmond loses a little weight". I mean, come on, can we stop pretending that's going to happen? I certainly agree with the posters who express concern about his health. It's not a good long term situation.

I heard he (and a couple others) stayed last night and signed autographs for all the kids until they were all done.
