I’m not seeing that here. If you’re talking social media, they go encourage idiots to speak , not so much here. As far as AR preserving himself over the team, that’s a possibility and something many players do. Most players can’t do that simply because they have to give 110% of their health to get a shot at Sundays. AR quite possibly saved himself for Sundays and may still get picked number one overall. It may be gross to state reality but it’s still reality. There’s no reason to hate a kid for looking out for number one but that type will never endear himself to fans the same way a kid that lays everything on the line every week though. The picture of Tebow with FSU’s colors of their field all over his jersey to me kinda represents what fans love about their favorite players. Spikes had many of those moments. AR also never got to lead a great Gator team. His biggest day of glory was probably leading the last drive with his legs and beating Utah on a 6-7 team that he sat out the bowl game to end his college career. You don’t get to be an alltime fan favorite by losing a lot of games and having Utah as your crowning victory. His last game in a Florida jersey, he lost to Fsu. I’m sure he hated it just as much as we did . It wasn’t his fault we lost but we still lost. There’s no crowning moment for AR. He may become the best qb the gators ever put in the NFL but unfortunately it didn’t happen for him in college. There will never be a statue. Mostly, at least around here, I only see people giving their honest opinion about his past and future and I for one don’t see the need to candy coat my opinion to make someone feel better. I think he’s a great kid with extreme physical abilities with a slim chance of being the type of qb to win a Super Bowl and have a long career. He’s below average in the pocket, has a history of injury, but he’s also very inexperienced. He missed time in highschool. He only started one year in college. He could develop much like Hurts has over the last several years. He also could accumulate too many injuries by the time he is 30 to continue with football. Andrew Luck and Cam were done pretty quick because they took too much damage and they were way ahead of AR at this point. Lamar Jackson seems to be on that same timeline, 6 years in and missing a lot of games. Russel Wilson really developed in the pocket but is still damaged goods at a fairly young age when you think of nfl greats, Steve Young, the list goes on. I hope AR turns out to be an Nfl great but I don’t see it.
1.) Good post differentiating whatever garbage social media may be saying from the fair, objective but supportive opinions people have shared here. Many want the kid to succeed but people generally need to see tangible reasons to believe they will succeed at the next level. That's not hating. 2.) Some here will still only see "haters." I don't think you can change their minds since they seem to ascribe narratives to people thoughts. 3.) Paragraphs my man.
I think it's ridiculous for Gator fans to get pissed about pointing out the facts. What are critics supposed to say? AR was on par with Danny, Tim or Kyle? Peyton Manning Jr.? Thats just lying. I have said it before, I hope it works out for him, but I am not going to sugar coat a very average career at UF. Right now there is a link, on this forum, that the only "problem" with AR was, UF, CBN and staff. I call B.S. on that! If this was an NFL fan site I might understand, but this is Gator Country. Not NFL wannabe country. I hope he does get drafted first, but at the end of the day, that will not help his won loss or performance record at UF.
And we know our defense sucked and our receivers dropped balls , but that doesn’t change other facts.
