Fun game. The guys played hard and we had shots to win. Even without Castleton, our offense has seemed to have better flow and a stronger sense of urgency this year. Now we need to find some players, especially post players, in the portal for next season.
I think the important thing is that the product looks good. No standing around etc.. Golden has done very well imo with what we have. We win this game with CC. I am sold. My optimism is that TG will be in the tourney next year with some quality big men. He can coach this team to a tourney.
Kugel taking it to the basket is much better than a 30 foot contested 3 IMO. There was enough time to get in the lane.
Felt about right for a CC-less team. Probably the biggest issue was Kugel's offensive funk. Plenty of fight but not enough beef in the middle. Missed FTs also but they missed plenty also. Need to sign some beef for next year, Golden.
In case anyone could use a silver lining In one of Florida's worst teams in decades and in one of Georgia's better teams in the last decade Todd Golden went 2-0 vs Mike White
Kugel had problems all game long handling the ball. I won't second guess that call from the bench today
Good point, but he also is very good at the rim. Unless the 3 is off a pass and wide open, I just prefer getting to the paint if there is time. I think 4.1 seconds was enough, considering Jones pulled up and the buzzer didn’t sound till the ball hit the rim. Looking on the bright side, I guess that shot was better than some of the last second shots that were drawn up earlier in the year.
Team played hard… they almost always did so during this season, even if too many late starts. I thought we made a mistake taking Shimmy out of the game late, and msu immediately took advantage of fudge on the interior… including the game winner. The final play… I don’t mind the shot, but would’ve run it for Kugel.
Only thing I saw was when Shimmy was in they often went right at him with #1 and usually scored or got a foul call, or both. I think he'll be better next year defensively and all around.
He was open because he was about 30 feet out. It wasn’t an awful shot for only have 4.3 seconds, but I like the Kugel getting in the paint option better.
Sorry I missed the end everyone. I had to go get grandchildren from school. Our kids were under-manned and playing a likely NCAA Tournament team, came back from down 10 at halftime, had a chance to outright win, went to OT and still could have won on the last shot. I'm very proud of their effort!
The kids have really rallied since CC went down. I was afraid it would be an ugly nosedive and crash, but the opposite happened. They found a little something. Not saying this group could whip the 04's but they did not quit and actually played pretty well the last number of games. Wishing for an NIT bid and a couple of wins before the rebuild begins again.
Always appreciate you my TN friend. You (and MCB51) do a great job and keep the board positive. Thank You! Growl, give these boys a raise dammit!
