Yeah I can see that after he was still too big last season but as someone stated earlier, reports late last year/early this year were that he was down below 400. I'd just rather wait and see which one is it.

I don’t know if Big Dez will ever evolve into a dominating D-Lineman, but I thought he improved and played some good minutes last year.

I’m curious to see if he can build on it.

I'm trying to think of DT's in the NFL who played close to 400 lbs. Terrence Cody, Gilbert Brown, Refrigerator Perry, Ted Washington, and Shaun Rogers come to mind. The latter two had great careers, but I don't think they ever got above 380 lbs. I think Perry was pushing 400 at times and his success was short lived. Same with Brown, who was a role player for most of his career. I don't know what Cody weighed, but he was a 2nd round pick and never got to a second contract. I think some of that was related to legal troubles, but he sure didn't accomplish much in the league before that.

The bottom line? If you're a defensive lineman weighing 400+ lbs, the chances of having an NFL career, let alone a great college career, are SLIM to none!

That someone was me. He personally stated that he was at 385 during a podcast on 2/12. The video from the podcast he was seated so it was hard to tell. But I will add he seemed pleased with himself when saying it

Is it even possible to gain 64 lbs in less than a month? Something doesn’t add up

Watson is said to be worn out by all the questions about his weight and probably embarrassed. The weight on roster is said to be correct and he fibbed on it when asked by reporters/webcaster. He knows above everyone that if he is ever going to get all the snaps he wants and become the kind of star player that he can be then it will come at a lower weight even if he never stars as an underwear model. He may be an athlete but I’d still point out that weight control is lifelong struggle for most Americans with every possible motivation to encourage them to live healthy lifestyles. Then again fried chicken, beefsteak and cheesecake are awfully satisfying

Big Des seems like a likeable young man, and I am sure he has a personality that can be endearing, but come on, man, this is 3 years in, and we are still at 450 lbs. There is no excuse, man. Big Des is NOT doing what he is supposed to do, and he is letting the program down. A scholarship aint some damn right, it is a damn privelege to be earned. Get it together, man. Utah game (at oppressive altitude) is in 5 plus months.

Well lets see how Cam Jackson and the incoming freshman look. Maybe a reduction in playing time might light a fire.
