I don’t deny mad scientists are doing something called gain of function. I just deny that they’re creating viruses.

So, the guy who MADE UP results and cherry picked other data from his HIV Vaccine research that basically got him thrown out of the Army (and, as a phony and caught liar, perfect for the Trump administration) is now trying to get back into the spotlight.

    OK, thanks for sharing.

    So does the US Army.

Also, his vaccine failed miserably, yeah, definitely believe he is a liar and fraud. Again, perfect for Trump.

Both U.S. political parties are now open to the idea that Covid may have come from a lab in China.

The Morning: The debate over Covid’s origin

    Why does this debate matter?
For many, determining the cause of a pandemic that has killed nearly seven million people worldwide, including 1.1 million in the U.S., is important regardless of broader implications. Basically, the truth matters for its own sake.

Both parties? Not so sure that is true by the comments from some of the left on here.

The root issue is existence/non-existence, not origin.

More data showing how "awful" Sweden did during the pandemic LOL. Don't worry, we already have the grifters saying Sweden actually did lock down and do a ton of covid measures even though 3 years ago everyone was saying how they did nothing...

^ I remember when the enraged mayor of an Italian town was crying for flame throwers to be used on curfew violators. Italy was the first country to go full-China and it suffered terribly.

Has a nation ever enhanced the health of its peoples by frightening them no end and taking away their hope ?

Snapshots in time don't always tell the whole story. Do I need to post the graph showing COVID deaths early in the pandemic that compared Sweden to other Nordic countries again? Just look at that graph, and would show Sweden doing awfully. Look at both graphs, and it tells a different story how Sweden got off on the wrong foot dealing with COVID, but ended up very well.

According to you, they just did nothing and got lucky. But that is far from the truth. They took measure to lower the spread of the virus, like closing high schools and colleges, and forbidding any get-togethers of 50 or more. They also strongly encouraged work from home, and during the pandemic, Stockholm had the largest WFH percentage of any major European city. Sweden also has a built-in advantage of having the highest population of single person households. Last, Sweden has the 5th highest vaccination rate, and 4th if you remove Malta, which is a country with about half the population of Stockholm.

How do you explain Sweden having such a poor start, but then making up ground when it came to COVID deaths? Luck? Divine intervention? Or do I really need to explain why having the highest WFH rate during COVID and highest increase in WFH rates, plus highest single occupancy home rate, along with a top 4 vaccination rate would give us the results we have?
