That’s more along my line of thinking. You’re looking for something that isn’t tangible. I doubt those tests are accurate or they would possibly call it the Tom Brady test. I’ll accept Montana, Marino, whatever they want to call it but you won’t get that answer running and throwing a ball.

That is hilarious, Shane started from 1990 to 1992. Go back and look up those rosters...Errict Rhett, Dexter McNabb and Willie McClendon at RB, Ernie Mills, Tre Everett, Harrison Houston, Aubrey Hill, Willie Jackson, Jack Jackson and Chris Doering at WR, Kirk Kirkpatrick at TE.

Not to mention a load of OL that played in the league and defenses like we haven't had in years.

    Give me a break.

Can we all agree there is a huge difference between combine skills and actually playing football? If you're a pro team picking a qb in the first round and paying him big bucks you had better believe the guy is worth the pick.
Assuming such a qb can be developed who has had basically a 50 something percentage of completions in HS and college is like saying a female is going to change her future husband after marriage.
Now, on the positive side, whether AR makes it as a qb or not, he has the size, strength and speed to play a different position. We all hope he achieves his dream but he is not without other options.

If combine numbers are so important, why isn't Tim still playing? He had some of the best combine numbers for a QB never before seen yet was in the league a short couple of seasons. I keep on harping on one thing scouts aren't looking at - durability. AR is the least durable QB I've ever seen. He played hurt almost his entire career at Florida. It was said the year before he was hurt because he was hurt all through high school and the off season heading into 2022 was supposed to be his breakout year injury-wise. Yet, he was hurt in every game after the Utah game. In most cases, he got hurt on the first play of every game. His kryptonite is his injury-prone legs; if I'm an NFL DC, I'm going to have my defense just tackle him early and see if he comes up hobbling. He comes up hobbling, you just took away one dimension and will force him to throw. No way he's going to escape most NFL defenses with a bum leg.

At 5-10, Bryce Young may be a bigger bust potentially than AR.

Personally AR reminds me of Jeff Driskel. All the physical talent in the world but not enough to make Tom Brady money. Enough to make millions though I'm sure he'll be fine and a good representative of uf.

The NFL stopped giving the Wonderlic test at the combine.

I've even seen an article that claims they are considering doing away with the Combine itself.

If I wanted an evaluation/try out, it would involve football.

If AR is the first pick, whatever team that picks him clearly did not watch all of the full games from last year.

Think about how many times AR made a bad play and followed up the next play with something worse, versus the number of times he made amazing plays back to back.

Despite being much shorter, Bryce Young has much better game film than AR. Young would be the safe pick, AR the sexy pick.

They’ve seen it all and they still going to take him, they are professionals and we are just fans. They are clearly superior evaluators than us

Young would be the obviously better qb at this time. aT would be the reach for greater potential.

All they need to watch is the FSU game. He was great in the 1st half and had you thinking he was a definite 1st rounder. In the 2nd half you wondered if he could be a TE.

Disagree, that kid can throw and read defenses. AR did not demonstrate that ability at UF. Everyone would just (Oh My) if AR busted off a good run and decieved themselves into thinking he was "great". 6 - 6 is not "great". Every statistical metric outside
of running was average, leaning to poor, at best.

Bryce may not make it because of his size, you may be right, but AR has proved nothing outside of some measurables and "potential".

I hope the NFL works out for him, I do, but I can't stand the no fun league, my interest is UF football, so I will not be joining the legion of UF swooners that apparantly like "potential" more than "reality".

The thing that always worried me more than anything was it seemed like he has a really fragile psyche.

    After the Kentucky game:
"I was pretty good to start the game off, but I missed a lot of different throws and my confidence got shot," Richardson said. "It affected my receivers poorly, missing them wide open so I know their confidence probably went down as well. I didn't help my O-line, I didn't help my running backs. I failed the team, so mentally I shot myself down a little bit but I tried to stay in it."

I applaud him for taking responsibility, but I'd rather have a QB that has more of a confident (borderline arrogant) mindset.

I doubt Rex Grossman, Tebow, etc ever lost their confidence over a few bad throws. I want a QB that has extreme short term memory and leaves everything on the field every game. One that inspires his teammates and can rally them to greatness.

Max Duggan is less physically gifted than a lot of these other guys. But after watching him vs KSU in the Big12 Championship game, it's easy to root for the kid and wish we had someone with as much heart and desire.

I think their point is: a meaningful evaluation can't be made without playing against a defense. They've got college tape for that.
