Well Lorenz could do anything and with the injury to Bush she’s better off at first I think. Gotta have her bat in the lineup though. She was the home run queen of the SEC after all until Haeger took the title.
In the spirit of best UF SB rosters of all time let’s play a new game. Who are the five FASTEST gator SB players of all time? I imagine two are presently on roster lol.
Question for softball experts. It just dawned on me that several of Gators better hitters throw right but bat left. Is this by design coincidence or what. Please explain. Doesn't seem natural to me.
Some of them started out as switch hitters and later just picked the side they were better at and put all their focus there. Some were/are slappers and like to get that head start towards first out of the box you can’t really get from the other side.
5 fastest: Falby, Wallace, Moultrie, Merritt, K Stewart. Best baserunning- Wallace. Fastest home to first - Falby.
Excellent list and probably my top 5 as well. On the fringe would be Aja Paculba and Kim Waleszonia. They are 4th & 5th on the all time stolen base list and Waleszonia is only behind Stewart in career triples. But, again, those 2 are before the times of most posters, especially Kim W. Falby's speed is incredible.
Interesting that Lexie has decided not to wear a mask on the mound this year and Elizabeth in her 5th year now has decided to wear one. Hey, whatever works.
How about Trlicek a little while ago? No-hit Mercer. Leadoff walk and then perfect after that. Her drop ball and curve were really working today.
Gators 1-0 loss to Louisiana leaves them still looking for a win against a ranked team. Their offensive stats are very deceiving, IMO. LA's pitcher just overmatched them today and we never made the adjustments to her rise ball - just kept popping up.
Flat out can't hit solid pitchers on ranked teams. Just too many weak swingers with no power in the starting lineup. Might need to give more ABs to Egan. Though she is short, her bat definitely has more pop than the 1B and LF.
Of course but coming thru in a pinch hitting /sub role is how u get more playing time. Btw, I'm not arguing for/against her playing time. Just pointing out she was like everybody else today. Only Echols and Kistler had solid hits today.
If you think we have problems take a look at Alabama. They got beat by Texas St. today and lost earlier this year to Lehigh. At least Florida only looses to good teams
