Approximately 140 officers were assaulted with 130 of them sustaining an injury of some kind. Those officers were subjected to more than 1,000 assaults total.

One Year Since the Jan. 6 Attack on the Capitol
Dozens more US Capitol Police officers were injured on January 6 than previously known, report says | CNN Politics
Prosecutors: Jan. 6 rioters committed more than 1,000 assaults on police

I'll stick with the legal definition of assault.

That is a nonsensical question. If you would like to rephrase it to English, please try again.

Because that was not excessive force. She was part of a mob that had just smashed through a window into the Speaker's offices, where members of Congress were being evacuated at the time. The police needed to ensure the safety of those members of Congress and their staff from a mob that was actively calling for violence against them and had just violently gained entry to that evacuation point.

    No and no.

Nobody has argued that there are no circumstances in which police can use force and that shooting is always an excessive force regardless of the circumstances.

a few years ago, Carlson was on one of the TVs complaining that the New York Times was upset because New Hampshire was too white. I figured that wasn't quite accurate and looked up the story when I got home.
The real story: About 100 business leaders, govt officials, etc., in New Hampshire held a meeting about how to diversify the state and NYT covered. That's it, a straightforward news story about a meeting.
But Carlson turned it into another of his 'the media is out to get us good white people' stories, confident that his viewers wouldn't bother to look it up to see if he was telling the truth.

A couple of others. There are plenty ..

No. You didn’t watch the video of the violence that was released. Did you see video when people beat the police officers? Dos you see they battered the doors to break into the capital? Dod you see video when they tried to break into the speakers lobby? The only way to miss all of that is to have chosen not to watch. So, why choose to watch videos from Carlson, whose own network says he is an entertainer and lacks credibility? Have you considered the possibility they he showed video of areas where the mob was not for a reason? It’s like saying that the Rose Bowl parade didn’t happen and showing a street in Pasadena off the parade route.

Shows how little respect you have for democratic process. On January 6, Pence and the representatives and others had warning people on 9-11 didn’t have. They were Taken to safe locations. And the comparison is valid: it is the same as showing video of the Empire State Building and saying nothing happened in New York.

Lol are you saying those two cops where Trump supporters? Could be. Never know.

I can both agree there were people who acted in violence but also know this was not some planned insurrection.
But both sides always use hyperbolic tactics

So just to be clear, you think getting your news from the guy that his own news station says is to not be taken seriously, who did a segment on testicle tanning and who had a meltdown about the green M&M no longer being sexy enough, is legitimate and that we should take you seriously? Lol.

Define planned. The "Save America" rally at the Elipse was obviously planned and clearly intended to get the crowd juiced up. They were summoned there by Trump (planned) and Trump, along with the other speakers, were speaking to them in terms suggestive of violence. Trump then directed them to The Capital. At that point what happened when the crowd arrived there was not only reasonably foreseeable, it was inevitable.

Did they all meet the night before and assign rolls to one another? For most, probably not. The law, however, never requires that level of coordination and planning to punish the participants for RICO, conspiracy and/or principal liability.

There are multiple people who have been convicted of seditious conspiracy. So there were multiple people working together to plan an act of sedition, which was, in this case, to stop the functioning of one branch of government to stop the transfer of power I'm another branch of government.

I'm sure some who walked over there from the rally got caught up in the emotion. Some stayed outside of the Capitol. Some engaged in violence and some did not. The most severe sentence will probably be for a guy like the leader of the Oath Keepers - Stewart Rhodes - (former Army and disbarred lawyer) who was prepared to go to war but (ironically) expected Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act so they had a legal defense to argue. There has been testimony about weapons stashed in Virginia. Rhodes admitted having four firearms himself. There was a sub-group of these folks who were ready to kill Americans and even National Guard members if necessary to keep Trump in office if Trump just gave the word and claimed they were deputized. Thankfully that didn't happen. Trump never called for the use of force, but who knows what would have happened had Pence done what he was told. Had that match been lit on that day, I think it's reasonable to assume that many of these followers would have joined in the fight even if they weren't part of any formal planning.

It could have been much worse, but to me, this is like a murder or terrorist plot that doesn't actually come to fruition. Sure, it's not as bad but I don't think the law just lets it slide because it didn't play out.

Man, the dedication it takes to keep up the "not a planned insurrection" talking points all this time is impressive, in its way.

Wait, so you're saying that if I my violent overthrow attempt doesn't work, I still have to answer for it? That's ridiculous.

Either it works, and this whole convo is moot, or it didn't, so the only person hurt here is me, since my plans now have to be changed (or improved and tried again until we get to that first point.)

Gub Tyranasauruses at it again, trying to hold people accountable for things that DIDN'T EVEN WORK!!!!!!

He may not have, but if I remember correctly, a sweaty Rudy G did call for "trial by combat" at the same event, from the same podium Trump was speaking from. The vibe was purposefully put out, whether or not the instruction to break into the Capitol was explicitly given.
