That’s a pretty big change. I suspect a majority of abortions happen prior 15 weeks, but at 6 weeks it is so early it effectively eliminates abortion altogether. So much for Desantis being moderate on abortion.

Also 6 weeks is basically 2 weeks after your first missed period.

A better question is would DeSantis sign the bill or veto it if it was passed by the legislature? My guess is the former.
Edit: I guess that's already been answered it post #7.

Don’t you think it likely that he worked with the legislature or that they consulted with him on this bill? I do. But having it come forward from the legislature gives him some cover while also allowing him to accept credit from its supporters.

He keeps this up and he’s a sure loser if he gets the nom just based on the issues. Can’t pivot from this. Nevermind that he has a glass chin and will be unable to deal with the incoming shit show

Exactly and mifepristone is also used for women having a miscarriage. Let's have them suffer some more to make some ghoulish politicians happy.

The battle lines are being drawn:
Newsom says California will cut ties with Walgreens over abortion pill access
"In an attempt to counter GOP efforts to limit reproductive rights, Gov. Gavin Newsom said California will cut ties with Walgreens over the company's decision to stop selling abortion medication in 20 Republican states."

"California won't be doing business with Walgreens — or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women's lives at risk," Newsom tweeted Monday. "We're done."

This is a big fat loser of an idea. Desantis will lose on this alone.

big step. should liberals punish companies altering policies to avoid being punished by pubs? is that the only way to make them stand up for themselves or just more punitive policies?

It’s difficult for Walgreens because they are caught in the middle. Though it’s so ridiculous of states to restrict and block FDA approved mifepristone and misoprostone, that it’s defacto ridiculous of Walgreens to not take a stand and force the Republicans hand. Not a fan of state “cancel culture” , but the chain of events was set off by extremists in GOP states.

Unfortunately very few corporations are going to take any stand on such matters, esp if it isn’t important to their bottom line, and their employees may even be subject to harassment or jail from the extremists. It really should be the feds that steps in to protect women and those who need this drug. With a whackadoodle Supreme Court the options seem limited.
