Anthony Richardson should be the #1 pick in the NFL draft...

Took a lot of cheap shots in college, in contrast NFL is anal about protecting QB's

 

“Athleticism will only get a quarterback so far in the NFL, but if Richardson is able to figure the rest out, he is going to be special.”

Between the ears is what will make or break his professional career. He’ll now visit teams that will potentially draft him. They will put him in front of a white board and drill him about plays, reads and formations. This is much different than going through drills on the field where he excels. Hopefully he’s up to snuff on the board too.

 

That interview process started at the corner combine. He was said to one of the better interviews of the QBs.

Based on his throwing highlights I saw little evidence of “C.J. Stroud showing him how it’s done.”

 

I mean our pass catchers were pretty terrible and had a zillion drops.

He shouldn’t say that but his completion % with an average passing catching corps improves quite a bit

 

He did run as much as CBN runs his QBs.

 

Watching the combine, i think CJ is a slam dunk if you are a GM. AR has a higher upside, but he also has more risk. He needs to fix his short and intermediate accuracy issues. I believe he can do that but with AR you're getting somewhat of a work in progress.

 

I’m happy for the kid but I’d take that edge rusher from Bama without a second thought.

 

I have to understand protecting his health. I’m still breaking my body daily to support myself. It won’t be that way in the nfl though, it has to be laid on the line to keep his job now. Looking at his injury history, tge kid better learn to make his living from the pocket and rely mostly only on the threat of his legs.

 

If only playing football were a punt pass and kick contest.

 

True, the 1st pick may very well be Will Anderson since the Bears are picking and they're committed to Fields. The next 3 teams need a QB but can't afford a project like AR. Then Vin Diesel/Jalen Carter is still on the board as well by the time the Seahawks pick

 

Same conditions for AR and CJ.

I posted on the first page in mid December. So far my predictions have been spot-on (except for the Panthers playing their way out of the top 12, LOL.)

I said the NFL draft takes on a life of its own, and that AR would destroy the combine and could be the best ever QB at the Combine. (I nailed that one.)
I also predicted he will be picked top 12. (I was too low.)
Then he will crash and burn. (Perhaps I will be right on that, perhaps not.)

Anyway- some good reading on those first few pages.

 

We just sucked last year, probably would only win 3 games without AR.

 

I would also suggest you have to factor in some of the off-target passes AR threw that Pearsall was still able to make diving catches on. Pearsall was almost never hit in stride, reducing his after-the-catch results dramatically. So, yes, lots of passes that should have been caught by the overall receiving corps were dropped, but, then some passes that most receivers couldn't have caught were actually hauled in as dramatic athletic catches by Pearsall. So, maybe all of that offsets to a degree.

 

And tgat matters why? That’s not playing football which is what they need to be good at.

 

Then why play football at all? Where is the cutoff to actually play to win at all cost?

 

Theres many for whom it’s a business decision 100% every second. Nothing wrong with making a living and providing for your family.

 

And... there's nothing wrong with calling them out for their decisions. I call it as I see it... unapologetic about it.

I remember a day when if you could not play in a game (he was probably injured and no one knew about it) you sat down and let the next guy play. Unfortunately for us we had NO ONE else to play that was good enough to take over the QB1 position.

We need to make sure we have enough QBs with a good knowledge of our offense to play.

This way if we have a subpar performance from our QB1 we can give him some rest. I do think that AR was injured more often that we knew about last year. That's what I believe affected his play in some games like the Kentucky and Vandy games.

I do NOT believe he was protecting his draft status in the regular season games.

But by the time the bowl game came around I can understand his decision not to play in it.
