Also, the NC law stated folks were to use the bathroom consisted with the sex assigned at birth. So ... that law did require folks like the above to use the female showers.

 

You must not be aware of what DeSantis is doing in Florida then. Either that or you're ok with the use of authoritarian force as long as it's your side that's doing the forcing.

This is a confusing explanation. The NBA yanked the All Star Game over H.B. 2, passed by the North Carolina Legislature in response to Charlotte's ordinance barring gender identity discrimination. That bill 100% barred transgender people from using the bathroom of their gender identity. It was not just limited to showers.

So you think it's purely coincidental that "conservatives" coopted a word from AAVE? Do you think there's no racism at the heart of "conservatives" coopting critical race theory?

 

Or you could make a drinking game for every time you make excuses for DeSantis by pointing to some other politician who sorta kinda did the same thing. We could call it the false equivalency drinking game.

 

As used by the GOP it’s effectively just a less unwieldy shorthand for calling someone a social justice warrior.

If I have to choose between “woke” and “SJW” as the term of the day for that, woke is much less cringe.

 

It’s the overuse that is cringe. If it was reserved for instances of actual over the top “wokeness” it would be one thing.

Instead, we get meltdowns over M&M’s candy or because Lord of the Rings had a Black dwarf. Literally every time there is a black lead character or show with “diversity” it gets labeled as woke. Wonder why?

 

I have to say when I see politicians, or middle aged and older whites supporting Trump, wearing MAGA stuff or spouting woke this or woke that I am really embarrassed at times to belong to that general demographic. I often think how did this happen? In my younger more conservative days I often cringed at how uniformly blacks would line up behind democrats. Now I find It equally or even more disheartening to see whites flocking to Republicans and Republicanism trending towards low IQ identity politics themes.
