There is no way Beard is not hired this offseason. The guy wins at basketball. He might suck off the court, but he brings the wins, and this is enough for many desperate ADs needing to inject a winner into their program.
I have mentioned it before, the risk on him is massive. Imagine he has another blow up and a kid sues the school under the idea that Ole Miss knew he was a risk and put him in front of kids anyway. The liability could be astronomical, even if it’s “just” emotional abuse. Even short of that, he’s a fiery guy, every temper tantrum is going to be put through that lens. But it’s Ole Miss, they’ve been on the bad side of press for about 6 decades now, they don’t have much to lose.
I have it on good authority Golden is bringing in two relatively unknown assistant coaches: Pat Riley and Phil Jackson. LOL (I'm sorry I thought it was April 1st...........)
“The University of Mississippi has met with former Texas coach Chris Beard and is in the process of vetting him to potentially be the next head coach of it’s men's basketball program, sources confirmed to CBS Sports. Beard is considered a leading candidate for the job as of Wednesday afternoon, but one source stressed there are significant hurdles, some of them legal, that still need to be cleared in order for Beard to be offered the job.” When there are significant hurdles to be cleared, some of them legal, that might be a sign, to run the other way. Anything goes in this business though, anything!
Hurdles being they want a huge buy out when he uses missy for rehab and bails for a real school after 1 year.
Chris Beard wants the Ole Miss job for revenge. Texas and Oklahoma are moving to the SEC, and he knows he'll probably be playing Texas twice each year. He doesn't expect to beat them in basketball but he wants to land a punch or two before getting fired and freed up to move to a better program.
Mississippi will go all in on Beard! Book it! Now knowing the SEC, the powers to be within the conference won’t like it and try to keep him from not getting the job. * Ole Miss 67- South Cacalacky 61, playin game last night.
