What is keeping you from moving to a country that better aligns with your values and beliefs?

There’s lots of other places on earth for you to run. Don’t confine yourself or your imagination to the boundaries of the US. Look East. Look West. Look North. Look South. But go … and find the hate and discord you desperately want and need, somewhere else.

But sometimes, we all need to say and do things that just selfishly make us feel good.

Dude, for real, broaden your media diet. Or just turn it off and spend more time outside in the real world.

America has become a conglomeration of warring factions only tied together by the requirement to relinquish a third of their income or go to jail.

I disagree with the OP and most of the posts related to this topic.
The political divisions the OP is talking about were created SPECIFICALLY by the true power brokers of this nation: MULTI-NATIONAL Corporations and extremely rich private families. Some refer to these people as the illuminati.

Both political parties are now run by the rubes of the ultra rich to distract the populace, keep us divided, stupid and misdirected. By attacking each other over stupid shit like whom is sleeping with whom and what books one can or can't read in school, we are being deliberately distracted from the very important issues of our time that actually matter: Climate change, the equitable means of production and income distribution, race and cultural assimilation, population control and urban planning, preservation of water resouces and agricultural lands. (To name just a few)

So while our society pisses and moans about issues that are secondary in importance, the power brokers get richer, the society degrades and our national will is weakened by those who's motivations have little to do with the preservation or strenghtning of our UNION.

People who advocate for this insane idiocy always routinely forget one basic geographic reality. California is not uniformly a Blue State. Its North and South are heavy red. And pockets throughout the State are red. You can’t just decide California is now its own Blue State. Geographic demographics laugh at this. So, too, with all the States. Look at NY. Look at Florida. Even Texas has blue cities. The Country is not geographically capable of being split based on beliefs.

Moreover, the short-sighted “feel-good” selfishness of getting your way, ignores population migration. People move. Entire geographic political proclivities change over time. And this is not unique to our Country.

People too thin-skinned to be live with others in a diverse community with differing thoughts and ideas, need to find their own “oasis” to runaway. Don’t try and destroy the foundation of our Country which embraces differences of opinion, uniqueness and creativity.

What I posted was a hypothetical young fella, not what could ever possibly happen. If you think any state can legally secede and become its own country then 1865 and the SCOTUS called. The federal government has the final say in those matters, and even if the state legislature along with a majority vote of its citizens vote to secede, it isn’t going to happen except in the spider filled mind of MTG.

This has to be a joke. Or, if it’s serious, maybe it’s possible you lack a certain necessary social etiquette that normal society conducts itself and has conducted itself for at least the last 55 years.

He’s advocating breaking up our Country because he’s displeased with the current political discourse. He says he wants to move to a different region to be around only like-minded people (and good luck with that). I’m suggesting that he need not bind himself to a narrow and limited border. The World is large. Explore every corner of the globe. Find a place which suits his particular choice of life. But don’t break up my Country because some people disagree with his political dream.

This is just a bogus argument. There is not a single person, much less 49%, who are kept “prisoner” in this country because of a political disagreement. Not one. In fact, we enjoy the polar opposite - freedom to express opposition, freedom to be politically active and work to get your chosen party into office. And if you don’t like the candidates, you the right to run for office yourself.

Moreover, unlike many autocratic forms of government, each and every one of us has a freedom to leave the country and find somewhere else where you might not be so oppressed.

Our freedom to basically believe and move as we want, is the very fabric that makes this Country so great.

Yep, there are more conservatives in CA than several red states combined. Simple minded "solutions" for simple minded folk. Some beat their chests about patriotism and liberty and advocate for splitting up the USA. smdh.

It’s like some people no longer have independent thought; just vomiting of fringe theory talking points.

It’s all moot. America was a secessionist phenomenon. But Lincoln put an end to all that. It’s we got to leave them but you don’t get to leave us.

This is patently ridiculous. I have seen over a dozen sexual harassment complaints and even sexual assault (unwanted touching) complaints in the work place and the ONLY time I've seen a person lose their jobs was when multiple people could corroborate (and because they kept inappropriate pictures which became evidence). In fact, most of the time, the women I've seen make those accusations are forced out - and in some cases, where there isn't enough actual proof to terminate, but we all know it happened - the man gets promoted out and the woman shunned. This idea that women have all the power is hilariously untrue.
